It's a Good Axe
18 Nov 2009
"Bought this axe to split up oak and ash logs. Other review stated that the edge was not ground so expected to have to grind it up. However when it arrived it had a good sharp edge to it so no problem, its ready to cut.

Good weight behind the axe and chops through like a knife through butter (well almost!).

Only concern is the fiberglass shaft, which like a sledge hammer I have, can get damaged if you miss the mark!

Good value for money compared to others I have seen."

"I purchased the Roughneck 8Lb Maul axe having read customer reviews
I cannot praise this product enough it really is the business
Between this and the Roughneck Grenade Log Splitter I have little trouble splitting logs."

Superb!
13 Jun 2009
"I was recently given an oak tree by a tree surgeon friend. The trunk had already been cut into a series of 12 inch high, 24-36 inch diameter "rings" that took two people to lift.

How was I going to deal with these? My axe kept getting stuck, the wood grenade was too dangerous in oak and would sometimes bounce back out and my conventional steel wedge wouldn't even penetrate the oak.

This maul did the trick! Fantastic! Just needed to use the appropriate force and each ring became 20-25 logs for the wood burner."

'a god send'
19 Feb 2009
By Gezza (read all my reviews) (read all my reviews) , Sevenoaks Kent
"I
had been using an ordinary axe to split logs, then I broke the handle
decided to get a splitting maul. What a god send, no more getting the
axe stuck in a big log, it does what it says 'spilits logs' but what it
does not say is how easily it does it!"
