Monument Tools Automatic Pipe
23 May 2012
By SteelBlue117

"Works well for a good price.
Creates less of a burr on the cut tube than the "pipe-slice" thus reducing flow losses on joints.
A bit of a fiddle replacing the cutting wheel - its quicker and more cost effective to just replace.

Pro job

"This tool couldn't be easier to use. As a diy'er I needed something that didn't need an experienced touch to get good results. Even on the first use I got a first class cut working on existing hard to reach pipework - if I got the cut wrong it would have meant an expensive replcement section of pipe but no worries, this cutter worked effortlessly and the cut was as clean as a whistle ready for the joint."

Could do better
6 Sep 2012

"I’ve been using this cutter for a year now and It’s already starting to show it’s age. The problem is that the hinge has started to wear; so instead of cutting through the pipe, the hinge flexes and it cuts a thread along the pipe instead.
Whilst this cutter worked very well when it was new, my recommendation is to get a one piece cutter instead. I’ve got one for 15mm pipe and it’s been cutting happily for years."

Waste of time & money
13 Oct 2012
By JMChw12

"Doesn't do what it should - I got it to cut a pipe that was awkward to get to and at best it only scored a ring after many turns. Had to resort to a hacksaw. It only worked when I had a length of copper in my hand and was turning that as well as the cutter, and it still took almost 3 minutes. The hinged section makes no difference and in fact makes it more awkward. Get a different one!"

Poorly made, faulty
17 Feb 2010
By MrDIY
, London
"Fast yes, but due to a spring that is so strong it leaves a big inside burr to be removed.
In any case it was faulty. Blade was on an angle so it just curled its way up the pipe. Returned for refund (Refund courteous and prompt and - top marks Screwfix!)"

What they said..
18 Sep 2009
By Polarity
, IOW
"Bought the 15mm version made a couple of cuts and imediately bought this 22mm one as it was so easy compared with the old style.
However after a few cuts the 15mm started to spiral and this 22mm one spiraled almost from the very start. Have a 28mm Rothenberger and that works just great.
So spend the money and get the Rothenberger... like I am going to have to do :-(

Cheap... and nasty
16 Feb 2009
By greenyboy

"This I bought in a hurry and it may be okay for a diyer who needs to use this now and again. The problem is that after very little use the cutting wheel starts to missalign then you end up with a nasty half cut spiral on your pipe... in other words useless!
Best to buy an all metal cutter like the Copex ones which last ages."
