"I have a few old cork sanding blocks that will never see day light again. This is so much better. If you use poor quality sand paper that clogs quickly it will be a pain to swap out the paper as its a bit fiddly with the wing nuts and retaining brackets / clamps.
I was using some old inexpensive paper to begin with, with poor results, I changed the paper to Oakey liberty green and BOOM This hand sander became a monster and chewed through the work.
I am not promoting Oakey sandpaper products, I am sure any quality paper will do just as well, just don’t use the cheap stuff.
It will clog and you will loose any time you gained swapping out the paper and loose confidence in the sander"
"This sander may look very basic -- and it is -- but it is a favourite of mine that gets much use and does a great job. I particularly like to use it for smoothing plaster repairs, when an orbital sander would make much more dust and be less easy to control"
"this is a excellent tool but only as good as the sand paper you use cheap sand paper is no good as it cloggs up and make sanding hard i purchased some 120 grit paper the next day which i got the good stuff gess what brilliant makes sanding down pollyfiller so easy so remember good sandpaper good job excellent tool."
"I've always found hand sanding to be hard work. Orbital sanders are noisy and unproductive. Belt sanders get the job done but can be aggressive, not leaving a truly flat surface. This simple tool enables you to get the great results of hand sanding in a fraction of the time. It would be better if the clamps were quick release. I spend as much time changing grade as I do sanding but for the price I will probably buy a couple more so I can have one dedicated to each grade."
