"I've used these in old oak which is hard and tends to blunt lesser tools quickly. These countersinks have proper wood bits and fluted countersink cutters that produce a precise, neat hole quickly and easily. No chatter at all. The ability to adjust the depth of pilot hole means that they can be used for any size screw, not just the standard sizes. Great items and excellent value for money."
"I took a gamble buying these having read mixed reviews and given they are not very well described in the catalogue.
my conclusion is that this is a really useful drillbit that saves a lot of time if the job your doing requires multiple drilling and countersinking with one bit, for example I used one of these drill bits to Board my Loft out, so didn't need to keep swapping between bit & C/S, it handled the Chipboard fine.
Also worth noting that the Countersink part of these drill bits is removeable, so could be used on other bits if the bit breaks, and more usefully the C/S can be moved up/down the bit and fixed in different positions, I.e. if you want to set hole depth.
"On the cheaper end of the market but has proven reliable so far. Adjustable drill length - slightly flexible OK - so must take care not to snap. Countersinking takes some pressure - which is good otherwise it is too easy to over drill. Could have come in a holder."
"To be fair to the item, I have only used them in pine and ply. In pine they don't seem to be very efficient but in ply I have no problem. Perhaps it is the resin in the timber. They are okay for some jobs but I would have to try on a wider range of timber to give a truly accurate review."
"Bought these for a decking project. snapped one drill after about 50 holes bent the next one so replaced smaller drills with bosch bits. countersink is offcentre so drill slowly, maybe i hade the speed too high but there are alot of holes in a deck. as others have found ok for one project! maybe the largest one will last..."
"These look great but do not perform as hoped. The drills are poor quality and break easily, the adjustable depth part is missleading becasue as soon as you try and tighten the countersink any lower than the main drill shaft it either wobbles or the brill breaks. I would not buy this product again."
"The design of these countersink drills is excellent and they are really useful. The countersink head can be reversed so that it becomes a depth stop for drilling blind holes.
However the quality is really poor and I find it hard to believe that some of the other reviewers were looking at the same item. I can only assume that I have a duff set, or they now come from a different manufacturer.
I was a bit suspicious as the drill bits do not have a quality look to them. They cut fairly well, but bent as soon as I tried to drill a piece of hardwood with only moderate pressure. In fact, they are so soft that with very little effort can be bent with the fingers like a piece of wire.
I have now replaced the drills with some of my own and the countersinking result is very pleasing."
