"As a retired plumbing & heating engineer due to arthritis I still like to do the odd job just to show I can still do it. After my son bought his 1st house it was clear that there were a few jobs that needed doing. A few leaks in the bathroom that caused drips through the ceiling. One was from the bath waste. He didn't have the money to replace the bath suite yet so a repair was the answer. Whoever put the bah in used the plastic washers used nowadays but didn't do it properly, so every time water was in the bath it leaked. Having a new baby and being on shift work he constantly used the shower above the bath before & after getting home. So I said would repair the bath waste but use older traditional methods. Hence using plumbers mate to seal the waste joints. I took the old waste apart and put it back together using plumbers mate. It sealed perfectly and not been a problem since. would use this any time in preference to rely on plastic washers."
"This product has many uses and not only for plumbing. I used this to seal the spokes on a motorcycle rim that is fitted with a tubeless tyre that deflated every day and now totally sealed., This is perfect stuff because it's very sticky, none setting and weather proof. I don't know of any other product that would of fixed this for the price and I've still got loads left."
"A leaking drain in a first floor, en ensuite shower tray, had been previously bodged with silicon sealant. Silicon sealant is great for certain jobs but not this one, once the old sealant had been removed (not easy) a good, even, layer of Plumbers Mate squeezed up to form a flexible and, above all, water tight seal = job done!!"
"This works a treat when i fitted a wash basin it done the job instantly by putting some around the plug hole assembly both sides and tightening it up it creates an instant seal but never sets its a great invention and cheap to buy."
"Excellent for anything that is flexible. Used on bottom seal on shower cubicle where slight flex in frame caused conventional sealers to fail. Used this product then put a thin film of flexible sealer over the top - excellent. P.S. can be a bit messy to use but worth the effort."
