Customer Reviews for Mountfield 45cm Lawnmower SP183
"Just finished mowing the lawn with this fantastic machine. Got the Mountfield out of the box and mowing in less than 20 minutes. Absolultely brilliant. Starts no problem and cut our 6" overgrown grass with ease. We have a steep incline on the lawn and the motor/wheels managed perfectly, no slipping or straining. Quick and simple to empty the 55ltr bag is huge. We can't sing the praises of this lawnmower enough!"
"The mower was very easy to assemble and took only half an hour. It started easily and tackles the slopes and irregularities of my lawns very well. Very pleased with the results. My only gripe is that you have to buy and fill the engine with oil before starting. While I understand that the engine cannot be pre-filled, I believe the oil should be supplied as part of the purchase price of the mower."
"Bought this for the front garden and it did a tremendous job with the mulching attachment fitted. I was so impressed I took on the slightly longer grass of the back garden of 1 acre. I was staggered how well the mulching works leaving very little residue. Out compost heap is overflowing, but hope not to be using that again for a while.
"Easy to assemble, apart from grass bag which was a bit of a fiddle. Starts quite readily, and dealt with my overgrown grass with ease. Have not yet used the mulch facility, but that appears to be a very useful addition. Too early to comment on reliability. Well pleased !!"
"Bought this mower and after trying to assemble the handle gave up because the threads would not line up. The replacement was not much better but after a long time fiddling around with the bolts it went together. Not sure why the oil cap resembles a piece of lego as this is also difficult to remove. Lawnmower works well though and the grassbox is adequate."
"Bought this to replace my old machine, assembled it easily, started fine, cut lawn fine with the mulcher plug still fitted. It's a nice speed on the self propelled setting and very light to push around off it. Great so far. Subsequently decided to give it a closer shave, whereupon the mulcher didn't deal well with volume and left ridges of grass on the lawn, despite going over it again. Removed the mulcher plug and put the grass box on. The rear flap n the mower only covers about half of the handle recess on the grass box, and irritatingly bits of grass and dust blow straight out of it, and the handle itself gets buried in clippings. Not to mention resultant hay fever...! Perhaps it was just too dry and dusty, but even so you'd think they'd have designed it to do a bit better than it does in this mode. So all in all, good value for what it is, but disappointingly, not perfect."
"I bought this to replace a similar, 10 year old, Mountfied that I use for the bits round trees and on the path areas that my ride-on can't get to. I assumed this would be fairly similar in performance to my old one but it isn't. It is very short on power and really can't cope with long or rough grass. It works well enough on a well tended lawn but that's its limit. If you want to keep your lawn pristine it may well be fine but give it 100mm of rough grass and it either clogs up or stalls."
