"Have three different brand sets of Flip-drivers, and whilst one type will require pulling the sleeve back and the others push the sleeve forward to release drill/driver, this gadget saves countless times, bending down to pick up separate drill, countersink and driver cordless units. Any time I use this gadget in front of householder, they are all amazed and intrigued by the invention. All in one gadget for the fitter/carpenter is a must, especially if your working alone."
"Great Invention. Used mine a lot and saves bags of time fiddling about changing bits. Unfortunately though, 2 of the pilot drill bits have snapped off and when I tried to remove them from the driver the bottom end of the bit got sucked into the body by the magnet! Only way out was to drill through the magnets (thus wrecking them) and push the broken bit through. I agree with the previous comment that paying the extra couple of quid for the De Walt version would be worthwhile."
"The idea is great but the overall quality isn't what I expected. The main problem as has been mentioned is that the drill can slip into the the holder pulled in by the magnet and is nigh on impossible to get out again. Poor design in that respect."
"I haven't even managed to get the device working yet. I went to adjust the drill depth (by the way, the Hex screws were very poor quality); the bit slid inside against the magnet and was so short I can't get it out! Held firmly in place by the magnet. One (now two) useless flip drivers!"
"recently bought this flip driver and as with all silverline tools total rubbish, the item description doesnt state silverline and if you buy online you only realise this once bought,if i had known i would have stayed well clear.the tools at the early learning centre will last longer."
When I opened it I realised it was very cheap but not very cheerful! The pilot drill will not stay fixed and the grub screw holding it has no point to fix it in place. The flip over worked a few times but the mechanism then failed and fell apart.
"I had one of the old sets a few years ago, and it put in sterling service. I bought a new set expecting the same high quality, but some of the parts appear to be assembled with adhesive. This failed on the first use on all 3 bits and I returned the item to Screwfix for a full refund. When flip drivers are good quality they are a fantastic tool, but sadly these are rubbish. Looking at the other reviews, I am surprised Screwfix is still stocking them!"
"I bought a set of Flip Driver about 10 years ago and was delighted. Eventually one wore out and I sought a replacement. The concept is still great but the quality has deteriorated and now leaves a lot to be desired. None of the drill bits sat concentrically in the holder and the smallest bit in particular displayed a completely unacceptable degree of run out. I returned this to Screwfix who, to their credit, gave me a refund without a quibble."
