"Great item, easy to fit and works well. I had spent weeks chasing around trying to find a suitable product which I could use to replace an existing filter which had been damaged in moving. It took just one visit to Screwfix to get everything I needed."
"Bought these as we have a old steel water main and often had brown water. Used with the sedement filter rather than the supplied carbon for our use. Cured the brown water and catches a surprising amount of stuff even off a mains supply. our plumber fitted two in parallel on 22mm incoming copper to reduce any pressure loss. Don't forget a tap each side and a drain tap to make filter changes easy and less wet! Like others, used the plastic NSP male to male supplied with, and then brass BSP female with ptfe to connect. All fine, no leaks. Brilliant product, good value for money."
"A fantastic, cost effective way to improve the quality of the water in the whole of your house. Easy to install. Filters changed every 6-8 weeks and you are away!! Better water at an incredibly fair price!!! All I can say is go for it!!"
"Fitted to incoming supply in a renovated old house and was amazed on the dirt this captured in just a couple of months. United utility were fixing some pipes down the road and this stopped all the dirt and sand ending up in all our new kitchen appliances and shower."
"Fitted this easily and didn't expect much considering how cheap the price was but was totally amazed with the difference in taste of the water. Checked the filter after only 24 hours use and was shocked by the amount of dirt that had been filtered. Filter cartridge is easily changed with the spanner supplied. Would recommend this just for the peace of mind that my grandchildren will no longer be drinking contaminated water."
"I used the supplied 3/4" NPT nipple on the inlet side. To which I attached a 3/4" to 15mm flexible hose with integrated shut valve (part no. 67794). This made the fitment to the 15mm copper supply pipe simple & efficient. On the outlet I fitted a 3/4" to 15mm male coupler (part no. 82086) into the head, using PTFE tape (part no. 76841). And my 15mm tap connector attached directly to this. It has absolutely made a difference - water now has no odour or discernible taste. A stark difference to the quality of the water supply, prior to fitment of this kit."
"Have fitted quite a few of the dearer models. Came across this one on Plumbfix. Does exactly the same. People cannot believe the difference in smell and taste. And at less than half the price, you can't ask for better. Even the replacement filter is half the price and they fit the dearer models. A definite yes to this item. Cheers, Stephen."
"I have fitted loads of these. If you use a JG tap connector (3/4 to 15mm), just reduce the stub with a file by a few millimetres, chamfer a bit and job done. Plumb Centre have a brass fitting that will go straight into the filter and provide 15mm Comp connection. Too much fuss being made about the NPT. There are loads of suitable fittings available. SHAME A SUITABLE ONE ISN'T SUPPLIED. (Hence 3 stars for features) Regarding filters, I live in a soft water area and change my filter when the taste of the water changes, usually 12 months, however, hard water areas will likely see a MUCH MORE rapid change required. All in all a very good buy"
"didnt realise the incoming water was so dirty until i fitted the filter.no scummy build up in shower cubicle and no limescale in the toilet now.Washing smells a whole lot better too. easy to install."
"installation was very easy when using the js speed fit 15mm also taking tips from other reviews made this a breeze the wife's statement after a week was I can`t believe how soft my skin is since the water filter was installed also fantastic value"
"Needed a filter to get rid of chemical taste of mains water. This filter works really well. Easy to fit and not too bulky so cupboard under sink remains useful. Cannot yet comment on the life expectancy of the filter, but these are not expensive and are easy to fit."
"I've used one of these before and was very happy with it so when I moved house I decided to fit one in the new place.
The last one I installed was a problem to install because of the location and the 3/4" NPT fittings, however, one of the reviews on the site recommended using 3/4" tap connectors and this works a treat!
My second install, using the 3/4" flexi tap connectors (with ball valves fitted, makes changing the filter a drier occupation) went in a dream.
The only thing I would add to Voodooking's review is that if you use tap connectors use 3/4" x 22 mm so that the valve doesn't restrict the flow too much. You can get back down to 15 mm using copper fitting converters (Part number 61906)"
"Bought this on price alone after much searching on the web - housing AND cartridge cheaper here than housings alone from other places - (although cartridge is made in taiwan). Placed it inline on the supply to my electric shower and used 10mm bore flexible connections - no noticeable pressure drop - and the water is noticably better. Smell of chlorides is now gone & eyes don't itch anymore! Worth noting - the connections are 3/4 NPT which is different to 3/4 BSP. NPT thread is tapered - BSP is NOT so PFTE tape must be used to ensure a seal. 3/4 BSP male will NOT go into this filter housing - I used the connections that came with the filter (3/4 NPT) - and attached 3/4 BSP female flex hose tap connectors. Straight fit - no leaks. Would recommend this to anyone - professionals AND DIY'ers alike."
"I have installed many of these, very easy to install. (have one in my house) and after a month you notice the results. The water is clearer, softer and odourless to drink.Once you have been drinking water for a while from it , you will notice the difference in taste should you drink tap water...I find ice cubes are more clearer. The filter must be changed every six months.Cheaper than buying bottled water.Different types of filters avalable, to remove the smallest of sediment, chlorine odours, etc, see manufacturers web page.."
"Read all the reviews on this product before purchasing. Several customers have made recommendations regarding reducing from 3/4" down to 15mm. The comments made by Kiri from Herfordshire....'On the outlet I fitted a 3/4" to 15mm male coupler (part no. 82086) into the head, using PTFE tape'. THIS DOES NOT WORK! You can only get less than 1/2 turn using that fitting into the threads on this filter, nowhere near enough to make any kind of seal. I got around the reduction by using both the supplied nipples, one side of which is tapered, as are both the inlets. (3/4" NPT). The other is a standard 3/4" thread which will screw into a 3/4" compression female to 15mm tap connector, which I could only source from elswhere. 15mm flexi hose to the inlet side, did the outlet the same. As another customer has commented, this should come with fittings to get you down to 15mm. Bit of a fiddle to get it connected up, but what a difference in the water quality!"
