"I bought this to enable me to drill holes in some insulation sheets and needed to go deeper than the standard flat bit, this didnt put any stress on the item but it ran fine and didnt waggle around, what i liked was that they supplied an allan key with it so no hunting around, the only thing i would have liked was a methos of fixing the allan key to the shaft for safe keeping but i have been unable to see a way to do this."
"Need to have this one in your toolbox. Just for that time you ned that extra bit of reach. Helped me out as i was working on the heating system. Got the old screw out and replaced for a stud. All connected up and working great again. Good value for money."
"This is more substantial than the older model BUT is limited to 300mm as the hex end is larger than the socket at the bit end hence cannot be used to double/treble/etc the overall length as in the good old days"
"I bought several of these bits hoping that they would link together. Unfortunately, they do not. One end is for the chuck, the other end is for a flat bit and never the twain shall meet. Hey ho, out with the angle grinder again. If you want a 300mm extension they are good. If you want a 600mm extension, do not buy 2 unless you have an angle grinder."
"stouter tha expected but grubscrew holes countersunk, reducing metal to screw into. Also screws stand proud of shank increasing minimum hole size. Waste removal behind bit is hindered but only significantly on 20mm dia holes or less."
"Having recently purchased one of these extension bars I feel that I should point out that is only good for boring holes of 14/15mm diameter or more, as the grub screws that hold the spade bit in place protude approximately 7mm from the centre of the shaft therefore fouling the work piece on holes being bored that are less than 14/15mm in diameter."
"i found i was unable to tighten the grub screws sufficiently (thread too course to use more than 1.5 threads). with this in mind i drilled and tapped the opposite side and used smaller grub screws which worked fine."
"Really cheap bit of tat. Not only are the grub screws too long but I couldn't even fit a 1/4" drive drill or a screwdriver bit in it! I had to drill out the end. I made the hole deeper too, so that the second grub screw went in the groove on the bit. It should also be noted that the drive end has three flats and will not fit into another extension (without spending some time on the grinder!)."
"Used twice before extension bar become loose from speedbit, tighthened up only for it to happen again, then securing grub screws broke, so never actually manage to drill one hole with it It maybe cheap, but better purchase would be longer speedbits."
