Fixing bolts are fine
12 Dec 2013
By TimC

"Hi, Just a comeback to the previous review, where the person said you need a grinder to cut the fixing bolts, this is not correct, I have fitted loads of these around the hospital and all you do is select which notch you need to cut back to and with pliers, snap it at that point, you may need two pairs to hold it, but I just hold it in a gloved hand.
This is a great product for the price.

JUST ONE TOUCH!
18 Jul 2008
By Dataman21

"Moving to a new house and security is first and foremost on a persons mind. I ordered these outdoor locks as they are ideal for securing the front and back gates as well as the side door to the garage. A bit fiddley to set on the first go, however the second and third time, easy. They are very robust and seem to be alright so far in adverse weather conditions(I recommend home maintenance checks to keep them in good working order).
Overall very impressed with the product and the speed at which it was delivered, the only thing that spoilt it was the delivery mans attitude (which is not ScrewFix fault),
great product and big thumbs up from me.

Good Price For Lock
15 Jul 2008
By Brizzle
, Bristol
"i have fitted many of these locks, mainly used on office doors and bike sheds etc, fitting is very simple, the only thing that is tricky about this type of lock is when you need to change the code, you need a steady hand and tweezers to remove all the tumblers. you get blue tip tumblers which are none code and red tipped tumblers that are the code, you get a combo of numbers and letters for possible codes so you set red tumblers in the required slots for a code, e.g, 1234xz, then set the blue tumblers in the slots you dont want to use. overall i give 5/5."

good product - bad fixing bolt
16 Apr 2013
By peter8269
, Rotherham
"I have just fitted this push button lock and the quality seems good but I had a major problem - the fixing bolts are stainless steel and a hacksaw just won't touch them. The only way to cut them to length is with a grinder which I don't happen to carry around with me."

good value, fiddly to change
30 Jan 2012
By dominicp
, Mortehoe, Devon
"fiddly to change because instructions are poor. fyi re permutations of digital lock... this is not a high security lock and the sequence of key presses is irrelevant. If 12345 opens the lock, so does 54321 and any permutation of these. For the nerds among us below are the permutation calcs with '!' being the factorial function ... this shows that having a 4 character combination gives you 715 permutations, and that having a 10 character combination gives you just 286 permutations. If 10 character result seems paradoxical, think of it this way: if you could have a 13 character code then there would just be one single possible permutation, because to open lock you would have to press every one of the 13 keys once, and sequence would not matter. 6 or 7 characters gives you maximum permutations, at 1716, i.e. on average 858 different 'guesses' before you would crack the code IF you knew how many characters were set.
((13 !) / ((13 - 4) !)) / (4 !) = 715
((13 !) / ((13 - 5) !)) / (5 !) = 1 287
((13 !) / ((13 - 6) !)) / (6 !) = 1 716
((13 !) / ((13 - 7) !)) / (7 !) = 1 716
((13 !) / ((13 - 8) !)) / (8 !) = 1 287
((13 !) / ((13 - 9) !)) / (9 !) = 715
((13 !) / ((13 - 10) !)) / (10 !) = 286

Digilocks
19 Aug 2011
By LSEM

"My workplace has approx 12 of these locks which work very well and are used lot, easy to change codes. Downside is we have to replace around 3 a year, they dont last forever. If it's heavy traffic usage then probably better to buy the heavy duty ones. Overall though I'd recommend these locks."

Good value but could b better
20 Apr 2012
By SausageSurprise

"Fantastic price and good, sturdy product.
Only points I would make are: on similar digilocks I have fitted this item seems quite awkward to change the code, others have been insert slotted screwdriver, turn letters/numbers 90 degrees and job done-code changed. Not this one, dismantle lock, remove little metal piece with tweezers included, add other bits in other places, etc, etc. Fiddly to be brief.
Other point I have found is that the template you use to drill the holes are on the reverse of the instructions therefore you must either have a good memory or a helpful screwfix staff member who can take a copy for you!! Simple otherwise, have fun fitting :)

Okay for a shed
12 Oct 2011
By Crazy10s
, Oxfordshire
"Not sure if I mananged to install it correctly as the code i chose seems to open the lock in any combination of the four number code I put. There didn't appear to be any instruction on whether this was the way it worked or if there should only be one correct combination in the order pressed.
So for me me okay and sturdy product suitable for a shed if you can input your code in any order. If I've installed it wrongly then would be great product for something more secure. Detailed instructions a must please.

Very poor documentaion
9 Jun 2013
By rockbird
, Malvern
"The documentation with this product leaves much to be desired:
1) The instructions for changing the code are on the back of the template which is intended for cutting out, taping to the door and drilling through. You have to photocopy one or the other otherwise the vital information for changing the code will have been destroyed during fitting.
2) The template gives two options: for a 60mm latch (in the kit) and a 70mm latch. the 70mm latch does not appear to be available neither on Screwfix or the manufacturer's website. Extreme care has to be taken to fit the template according to the supplied item and drill the holes in the door accordingly. Why do they even mention the 70mm latch thereby causing confusion??
3) The instructions for changing the code do not make it clear that the rules for inserting the Red and Blue tumblers reverse between the two columns of buttons. The images shown are for buttons 6->C but you have to mirror-image them for buttons 1-Y. There is a end view which only suggest this in a very obscure way.
I must admit that this was the first time that I had fitted one of these. I can see from other reviews that some have fitted lots of them but I would ask how difficult was the first time?
I strongly recommend that the manufacturer re-examines the quality of their documentation of this product.

Not for medium duty use.
28 Jul 2009
By Rednadnerb

"I would say only buy this product for low duty use, maybe a shed or something. I used it for a side door entrance, maybe a dozen to twenty uses a day and it started jamming after 3 months and jammed completely after 6 months."

Works just about
8 Mar 2009
By thegolfer

"The spec on this item and its price were good. However changing the code was difficult as unless you are very careful springs pop out and are tricky to put back. Also certain codes did not seem to work. Eventually found a series of numbers that did work and that is used as the code, the item is now working well."

Securefast standard code lock
17 Sep 2011
By kev1907
, Banbury
"I have installed many code locks over the years and i have to say this is the worst. The 1st one lasted 2 days and the replacement didnt last that. In the end screw fix swapped it for a better unit which was made by the same company but far better quality and only slightly dearer. Would not recommend this unit at all."
