"The kit itself is fine, but to go through a wall properly i found i needed the 125mm tube and a connector sleeve ring (both available from screwfix) The external vent will fit the 125mm tube nice and snugly (no need to bond to the pipe - the wall fixings are enough, in case you want to change the colour or vent) - glue on the sleeve ring to the other end of the tube indoors - the metal tube assembly then just slides onto the other side of the connecting ring just right.!
The erbauer 127mm core drill is perfect for the job if used with the plastic tube - the metal flexi-tube will not fit. Get a couple of large 120-140mm jubilee clips too to make the connections secure.."
"Ideal kit for my tumble drier, to create a permanent vent. Much better than the plastic hose that disintegrated, and a nice finish to the wall. The vent flaps open easily so not too much back pressure."
"This Kit is better than the usual flimsy plastic vent kits. It can be formed into a sharp bend if necessary. It holds its shape very well so making good round it is easy. I used a 150mmm core drill to make the hole in the wall and then made good round the tube. I trimmed the tube to length afterwards using a trimming knife, as there is no spring steel spiral that needs to be cut with snips or similar. The only downside is that like nearly all these kits is that the mounting holes for the louvre outside are very close to the edge of the hole that you create, so the making good needs to be very good in order to get a fix for the screws. Making the plate for the louvre just a bit bigger would make a big difference to the ease of fixing. The louvres however do work well and unlike many others seem un affected by wind, so you don't get that annoying rattling noise in your kitchen when the wind is in the wrong direction"
"The Exterior grille is excellent but note that the metal expanding trunking is approximately 133mm diameter measured EXTERNALLY! So this trunking will NOT fit in a standard 130mm diameter core drilled hole!!"
"Good quality hygienic tubing but the large hose-clip is a nightmare. The one I received is not as shown in the picture and is inadequate. Throw away the clip and use a wider superior one. The exterior vent is an unsightly grey so buy the brown one as an extra."
"I have just read a few reviews on this because I have just fitted one of these and coudldn't get it through the 127mm Core Drilled Hole. I thought it was me, but evidently not. Beware, if using a 127mm core drill it will not fit, you then have to start chiselling out bricks to get it to fit which defeats the object!"
"I don't have a problem with the individual bits, they work as well as other stuff I've fitted but... How is it the hose is too big for the vent? I've had to build up the flange on the vent with tape to provide a close fit, no way would the hose clip tighten enough to pull the hose in otherwise. Plus the vent suffers from the same problem as all this style with flapping around in any breeze going. They are so noisy. Luckily I had some light foam draught proofing strip which I stuck to the inside bottom edge of each vane, that's quietened it down a lot. I just hope it lasts. -1969 men on the moon, 45 years later still can't manufacture quiet vents... How can it be so difficult?"
"I bought this kit to connect my kitchen extractor, it is good if you have a short length of duct to connect straight through the cavity wall. The problem is there is only one jubilee clip to connect your hose on one end but (unless I am missing something) there is nothing to attach to external grill. Also, the diameter seems bigger than 5 inch (125mm), meaning you have to tighten it hard to create an airtight seal and if not careful like me, you may end up puncturing through aluminium. I ended up throwing it away and used a plastic flexi duct. Anyway, I don't want to be over critical, this product extends to 1.5m and if this is all you need and expect high temperatures (gas hob) it is probably a better solution than plastic flexi hose"
"Quality of product seems good but the width of the hose was closer to 130mm so would not fit in the 125mm hole drilled for it. The metal hose is too stiff to squeeze into the hole as you would be able to do with a PVC hose. Had to get separate hose to attach to vent grille and cooker hood."
