"We were doing some exterior painting and it was going painfully slow. Moving steps every time we finished one area was holding up the job considerably. Furthermore the steps we have haven't got a particularly wide step, so it caused either myself or my partner to slow down because of the pain in our feet. Buying the platform was the best move we made. Working on a wide space which is deep enough to have your whole foot on makes the jobs much easier and quicker. The platform is stable so you feel safe and confident when working on them. The platform can be set up to just over a metre, which is excellent as our windows are tall. Building the platform for the first time was straight forward, a few nuts and bolts! The platform does require 2 people to move it, but this is one of the reasons it is stable. It certainly isn't too heavy. We haven't dismantled the platform yet, but set up was simple...a couple of spanners. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs to work above 1.5 metres for an extended area e.g ceilings, exterior woodwork, putting in pipes or cabling etc. Noticed on some reviews that it didn't fit on stairs. It does fit on ours, however we have a 30s house with reasonably wide steps so it will fit when we need to paint up the stairs...which will be great."
"Purchased to decorate staircase upper walls, checked width required from reviews, all ok. However it is impossible to use on normal staircase (straight no turns 85cms wide) House built 2011 so more less bog standard you cannot get the platform level due to pitch of stairs.only suitable for a very low pitched set of steps, rather than an average domestic house stairway. Very disappointed as they seem the perfect piece of kit for job. Had to return for credit"
"A bit pricey but a strong and very useful bit of kit. Saves a lot of time compared with a step ladder when painting walls and ceilings and it's safer too. I've made a small plywood "shelf" to fit on mine to put the paint etc on."
"Very pleased with this product. I nearly bought a similar but slightly cheaper one from a local builders' merchant. Then I had to get a replacement when I broke an old ladder. Nothing wrong with the other one I looked at, but the Screwfix one has a confidence building rigidity and stability which the other one didn't and as far as I am concerned is worth the small premium. Thanks for the prompt delivery by the way."
"As I age I get more safety conscious.... No way am I going to take risks to get at those difficult to get at stairwells. This did the job well and safely. Bit of a squeeze to get past it when it is on the stairs, but safe easy access to the high ceilings and corners. I look forward to using it for painting the cornices etc on the high ceilings in the living room. Recommend! A small note on collection. Even fully boxed, it fits in the front seat of the car with the seat back tilted right back - so easy to take with you."
"Somewhat innovative which needs a subtle change of thinking for assembly/use. It is a well thought-out, designed and manufactured tool which should last for years. The only issue with mine was that the platform rails had damaged the rungs on one ladder in transit - due to poor packaging. Screwfix have offered to replace it but I have elected not to. The support stays may need a little bit of patience first time through to understand how they work!"
"Really sturdy platform ladder (I have only used it for this so no comment re use as ladder alone).
Another reviewer mentioned stairs - the base is 78cm wide - just fits my stairwell. Worth checking if you need it for this.
Some niggles. The instructions are very basic - took a while to figure out the fitting of supporting struts - push the metal rod in and rotate on the axis of the strut while holding catch up.
The platform is surprisingly heavy - very strong but heavy!
The plated screws on the platform have all rusted - electrolytic reaction with the aluminium profile (always stored and used indoors). Not critical but annoying when a few pence extra on stainless steel screws would have eliminated this.
"Used as a platform, this unit is surprisingly stable and steady. The steps and ladder configurations usefully extend its repertoire. The uprights are easy to handle and light, although the platform itself is quite heavy. The only serious drawback is that the two bracing bars are loose items, so they risk being left behind or otherwise lost. I expect that we'll find many uses for this."
"A strong and fairly well made item, and good value for money if you can use the product. However I found that the footprint is far too wide to fit on the stairs, (which is why I bought for) it could only be used on very wide stairs since you need side access to erect and dismantle, as a stepladder it is very stable, but a bit fiddly with the stays which you have to use,I sent it back for refund in the end."
"light to move around easy to assemble adaptable for different situations solid, stable platform (even for 100kg) not one of these ladder assemblies with lots of hinges good for trimming sections of hedge or painting complete downstairs windows? but... maximum height of plaform only just over a metre, which is perhaps just as well because, without another smaller set of steps, it is not easy to get onto in platform mode instructions were picture mode only stabilisation bars were a little difficult to locate into hollow rungs (needed assistance from a rubber mallet)"
"These steps are not a good idea for high narrow victorian stairways. Legs are to wide on the stabilizer add on features, and the platform is to long so you cannot get the height on the stairway making this purchase without another stepladder a waste of money. But outside above your windows and any otheir area that is not narrow ideal. The instructions are a bit lacking but with a bit of common sense and logic you will get their in the end."
