"My powerforce pump eventually packed up so opted for this new design salamander pump. Not as powerful as the old one but certainly does the job. quiet running, not as noisy. Its short and dumpy. a new design but under the bath no one can see it! Fitting was easy, it comes with push fit hoses but I had to use longer ones due to my installation. a nice feature is the raised 'flow direction arrows' on the casing so you know which hose goes where. Ideal replacement and being slightly less powerful, which is not a problem, means less water usage and now I'm on a meter it was the right time to replace my old one, afterall every little helps."
"Bought this pump to replace a 4 year old shower pump that burnt out. Installation was simple as pipework was already there, but it is no big deal to install anyway. The pump is quieter than the unit it replaced and so far it is working well with no problems. On balance, it seems a good twin impeller pump for a single shower application."
"This is a compact and powerful little pump. It was very easy to fit as a replacement and the setting up process, too, was simplicity itself. The push fit connecting pipes are excellent and a real time-saver. I've had similar Salamander models in the past and have always been pleased, so let's hope this one is equally good. 'Does what it says on the tin'."
"Bought because of review of older type salamander pumps, thinking this pump would be the same. It is not.
Cheap plastic impellers, faulty flow switches and general weak overall design and quality.
Im now on my 3rd pump in as many weeks.
1st pump worked once. Flow switch issue which meant the pump would not turn off....
2nd pump (took back to screw fix for instant replacement), leaked from impeller casing after just a couple of weeks.
Now on 3rd pump, but i have my doubts.......obviously,
My pump has been installed by a registered plumber, including the salamander s flange to prevent air being drawn in from the vent. Pump is at base of cylinder and less than 2m away from shower etc etc.
My advise would be to spend £50 more and get the older salamander pumps (green), or buy a STUART TURNER pump. ST pumps also do a budget range whoch are far superior to the salamander.
Just to note: screwfix customer service is spot on, quick replacements of pumps.
"Should have listened to the other Trade review. However thought I would try this pump due to its compact size. Shower would not operate unless the shower head was bought down to waist height. All pipework was installed correctly. Re-checked and flushed pipework and checked all inlet filters and still would not work unless the shower head was bought down to waist height.
Took back and swapped for the old model and all works, not after costing me half a day where I could have been working elsewhere though!"
