"This was bought to replace an old style thermostat. This is a must as it has a second cut out in case the thermostat fails, otherwise it would boil over and possibly melt the plastic header tank and collapse it cascading boiling water over who is below it."
"Quick replacement, the terminals are a little small but the wires weren't too hard to squeeze in. Works a treat and the water is no longer bubbling past an unregulated element. Can't really rate reliability as only fitted a few days but seems solid enough. Remember to check the temp setting and make sure its at 60c or just above to help prevent legionnaires."
Comes in a tube and hence preventing transit damage.
Fitted in 5min.
Robust feel item, Screws to terminals a little small and could have done with being bigger to allow for insertion of wires. That said after a little persuasion it was in and with a terminal screw driver the job was complete in no time.
Working great at the moment. I have no data on reliability as this is the first time I have used it. That said I would recommend the product as it looked and felt more robust then the old one."
"I do work for letting agents and this product does the business as I use both the 7" and 18" models plus the bonus is that they are stored in a robust tube so I can store them in the van and not have to worry about damage in transit"
I thought the whole point of these dual safety thermostats was that it would cut out if the thermostat failed.
I had one fitted to an immersion heater on the bottom main Economy 7 off peak element. The first night it came on while the tenant was out working all night, he came back in the morning to find the whole bathroom floor covered in water.
There was water everywhere. The water had been boiling and the cold water tank above the hot water tank had boiled too sending up steam which condensed on the ceiling so water was dripping off the whole ceiling.
Luckily the cold water tank didn't burst or it could have been a lot worse.
Need to fit a replacement but not sure if there's anything better available???"
