"I have used the Hitachi drivers for a number of years now and always found them to be very reliable. The batteries always last well and with a 40 min charger are ready to go again quickly. Unlike other brands where you have to pay out additional money for good chargers, these come with it included."
"Great little kit, could do with an extra battery though, have used this kit for approx 3 months and very happy with it, the drills squeal like sea lion on low RPM, not a problem just a Hitachi quirk."
"I've been after a good all-round drill for a while and after seeing the punishment my father has given the drill on multiple projects (including leaving out in the rain on a number of occasions) I purchased this pair.
I've so far only done a few DIY jobs; couple of sheds, replaced windows, timber conservatory, shelving etc but the charge lasts, is lightweight, balanced and a comfortable grip.
Oddly lacks things common to cheaper models such as a light and belt clip.
Seeing as the drill only model comes with two battery packs a third would have been nice but for the price and a forty minute charge you can't really complain.
Currently don't stock the additional battery packs but they are available if you look."
"Hitachi branded 2x Chuckless Drills (DV18DCL2/ DS18DCL) and 2x 1.5Ah Li-Ion Batteries for about price of one set. Shop around you may find a better christmas deal. All you need is a good set of drill bits and screw bits. I got my money back on the first job. Combi drill and Drill driver have the spec to do all my jobs. Good performace, light and well balanced with the batteries, 18v has the power I needed, Li-Ion batteries dont slow down they just switch off, to be recharged, the second battery finishes my jobs. I only had them a month or so and they are doing the job for me."
"Bought this set as it was lighter than the Dewalt, came with two drills with 18vl and the Makita was with lots of bits I already had. It certainly seems powerful enought the screw drill. Only complaint is wished it came with a carry strap on the drills. The hammer drill again certainly seems powerful but not when actually drilling in holes. To be fair though I drilled against stone and very strong brick. Had to use the SDS. I am very happy with my products and the time to recharge is very short."
"Bought this item when on special last month for £149.99. So not really had time to test it. This item seems to be built well built and a I like the motor brake. Thought it should have a light from the base to the drill head like other makes have"
"With my old drill giving up the ghost it was time for a newer model. What attracted me first to these drills was the price, features and, yes I admit it, they look pretty cool as well.
Mere desire turned to love on first use when boarding a ceiling. The lightness of the drills and comfortable feel made this job so much easier and the control meant that when cutting holes for downlights, I achieved a precise and neat finish.
"Seriously, why bother looking for spare batteries ? I felt this needed a couple of spares which are never cheap. But at the offer price it was well worth buying another complete kit, plus I've now got 2 hammer drills if I need them. The hammer action is plenty good enough for most quick jobs and they work well with hole saws too if you take it easy. To avoid wrecking the battery thru over discharge, these cut out when they are flat. Squeezing that last ounce of juice out to do up that last screw is never worth spoiling a battery for and these won't let you do it."
"Drills appreciably lighter ( which makes a difference after a couple of hours of up and down ladders and when using above head height). Also powerful enough for most middle weight DIY jobs, and the quick recharge means not a long delay when the battery needs another charge. Having two batteries makes this less of a problem."
"purchased these to replace my ageing dewalt drill; after 5 years of use and 5 batteries later, it is on its last legs, i have abused it time and again and it still worked well, however it was lacking an impact drill function hence the reason to buy these. first impressions it feels lighter though possibly not as tough, but with lighter li-ion batteries hopefully it will work as well as the dewalt. the only other possible downside is that the chuck design is not as good as the dewalt, but time will tell, in conclusion they seem good value for money at the lower price."
"Purchased these drills over one and half years ago and the hammer drill get used at least ever other day and still gets used to this day, they pay for themselves as soon as you need to use them up a height with them being light, every good thing comes to a end eventually but when it does ill sure to be back to grab another set"
"Bought this item when on special last month for £149.99. So not really had time to test it. It replaces an old Hitachi that I bought about 20+ years ago and the battery has finally given up and so old I can't find another. This item seems better built and a I like the motor brake. Will be using on site next week... so watch this space"
"First impression: a bit light and flimsy. However, with use I was becoming pleased with the light weight, ease of use and very good power. Sadly. early on the second day, one of them packed up and went dead on me before I had even got it dirty. Maybe a one off but I have lost confidence and they are going back. It's back to the clunking heavy Bosch kit for me."
