"Used this to switchthe lights in my shed. Ansolutely brilliant cos I dont have to walk back dow n the garden when one of the kidshas left the shed light on. Easy to wire in and thouroughly recommended."
"Bought one of these to prevent office toilet lights being left on when not in use. It looks great, was eventually quick and easy to fit and works well.
Issues to be aware of:
1) Before fitting, be very careful taking off the cover plate, as the clips are very tight and easily damaged.
2) When instructions say 'press and hold the button', be aware that the button is the PIR sensor, and is quite fragile. The guy in technical support said it needed a very firm push until it clicked, but not to push directly on the PIR dome. I pressed as hard as I dared, and not wishing to damage it I took it back to Screwfix, where they tried and damaged the dome on two units. They got another one in and found that by pressing the dome very firmly but carefully with the palm of the hand the microswitch would click. Because of this i daren't tell office staff to use the button for over-ride.
3) When used in an area with some ambient light, the lux level adjuster needs to be set fully in the + (anticlockwise) direction, otherwise the PIR will probably not trigger."
"Have had one of these in the kitchen for several weeks and once it was set up correctly it's been working fine. Comes on when someone enters and goes off at the required interval after they leave - just what we wanted.
First one I bought was damaged - Screwfix replaced next day, no quibbles.
Second one had flat internal battery - rang supplier tech support who explained how to get over this (e-mailed instructions as well); quite straightforward.
Once switch had been connected to mains overnight the internal battery was recharged and switch has worked fine ever since."
"These switches are excellent. HOWEVER, the Screwfix stock must be very old. I've had three switches and all have had flat batteries. I returned the first one which was replaced without quibble but with one that had the same problem. The switches MUST have charge in the on-board battery to start up, otherwise they don't work. I contacted Elkay who were very helpful and explained that the battery normally lasts for several months (but the Screwfix ones are clearly older than this). Elkay can provide instructions on how to 'jump-start' the battery but it's rather a pain. These instruction don't come in the standard packaging. So, a good switch but beware of Screwfix selling you an old stock one with dead battery"
