Customer Reviews for Evolution Mini 1½" Belt Sander 230V
"It is the best £25 you will ever spend if you want to sand say a skirting board or the edge of a door. It does make a bit of noise and the dust bag is mainly for show but as a sander its is fantastic!"
"Bought this 24:95 at Screwfix and have been using it on premium Ply which I'd bonded together for shelving. It's highlighted the side grain beautifully. It's a fabulous product at this price, a Cabinet makers dream. The only downside is that the dust bag keeps falling off but a bit of tape on it does the job. Use a Vac/workshop or outside. 3 different belts/ grades of paper come with it. Could of had more. Have been very surprised with it's power. It does get hot but use a glove and take breaks."
"This is a great little sander. It completed the job I bout it for with ease. I have now got a list of other jobs to use it on. The belts change really quick. It comes with three belts and one on the sander. Good value.."
"This sander is just what I needed. Can be manipulated with one hand and is perfect for fine tuning doors, cuts and generally gets put to use all over. I did have one of the belts separate along the join line when very new, but other than that it;s been great. As others have said, it does get hot in use but nothing a pair of gloves can't sort."
"Using the coarsest sand paper (30) this handy little tool was ideal to strip varnish from an old headboard - so much faster then using one of those 'Iron' shaped orbital sanders and easier to use than the bigger machines. Gets pretty hot and would recommend using work gloves."
"I bought this sander to adjust a door frame that was sticking on one side after painting. It had the paint off and back to bare wood in no time. I had the frame sanded and repainted in under half an hour.
The machine is pretty noisy so you'll need ear plugs or you will have a ringing ear for the rest of the day. Cant give 5 stars for reliability as I haven't had it long enough."
"This is a great little tool. There is nothing like it for sanding out saw marks and uneven surfaces on wood. Most belt sanders are too big, sheet sanders and detail sanders are to slow. In the words of Goldilocks "this one is just right".
On top of all this it is as cheap as chips.
Only slight problem is trying to get the belt straight but once you get used to it no problem."
"Previous Reviewers were right, gets warm and slippery with sweat from hand-But neither is a problem. Surprisingly powerful, paper supplied seems ok. Got rid of some old paint and smoothed out some of my grotty cutting to give a reasonable finish in quite a short time. I liked the size for getting into nooks and crannies and not too heavy for prolonged use. Think I might have a stab at dining room table although should use a larger one but I can't make up my mind for make and reliability are doubtful for all makes apart from Makita but not worth me paying that sort of cost for limited amount I would use it for. So for the price I thought I would take a chance and I have been very pleased with it."
"Well made, noisey, gets hot and quite heavy when using over longish periods in vertical position.Only problemn may be getting correct size of replacement belts after you have used up the 3 spare belts provided,Suprised Screwfix do not sell them as a spare.Overall very good value but remember only for using to do those smaller sanding jobs."
"Very good machine does the job with little fuss, really takes the paint off with ease. A great idea having a dust bag to collect the dust but not much use when it will not stay on though this was not a problem because I was working outside on a windy day. Included in the box along with the three spare belts was a small packet containing two spring type fittings each attached to a small piece of plastic, I cannot find any reference in the instructions or on the box what they are for, perhaps they are to keep the dust bag on! All in all a good machine well worth the money."
"Brilliant little tool for jobs where a full size sander would be too cumbersome. I used it for a variety of tasks while laying a wood floor. I had to take a small amount off the bottom of a door - not enough to saw - and this did it effortlessly in a few minutes. It howls like a banshee so, if using it for long, ear defenders might be useful! Can't comment on long term reliability at this stage but it feels quite robust."
