"I've been looking for a light weight circular saw that can be used most situations where you need a clean cut and preferably a hand free to support the material.
Having purchased a Makita 18v cordless drill, I invested in this Makita cordless circular saw. So far I have found it to be an excellent piece of kit. It is light weight, robust and produces a very clean and precise cut when sawing through 2" thick timber and through floor and MDF boards. The 18v batteries are great and charge quickly. Only gripe is the lack of a rip guide (as with my previous saw).
"I spent ages looking at all the different cordless saws available. I always buy Makita but having read reviews for this particular model I was uncertain whether or not to go with Makita this time. Having taken the plunge and bought one I think it is fantastic, mine has had a lot of use. I cut mainly 18mm Mdf which is flies through, good quality plywood does cut the battery life down I find but with 2 batteries and such a fast charger this has never been a problem."
"Having thrown my corded Skil saw out in frustration, I opted for a cordless version choosing the Li-Ion for the first time. This is so light which makes it easy to work with. You are limited with cut depth but your average door offers little resistence, as was the case with worktops. Batteries last ages and charge in a tea break. Why didn't I get it sooner?"
"As with all Makita products, this performs extremely well, and is worth the extra cost. I found though, that the saw tends to eat through batteries more quickly than the drill I use, and one needs the second battery. Having said that, Makita 18V Li-ion tools all take the same batteries, so it pays to have more than one!"
"having only used this 7 times i found that it has packed in . it was only used for cutting 12mm ply and it looks like the bushes have melted. i am a landscaper and the saw is seldom used so as its more than two years old i have no come back.dissapointed"
