"I'm fitting a new kitchen and after the walls were replastered decided to replace the old sockets, switched fuses etc, with new ones. Read the reviews, price was good so bought LAP for everything so it was a consistent look.
What I had not noticed and it doesn't say is these are 'low profile'. I had three of these, took me an hour to fit one, gave up on another after an hour and finally figured out why the difficulty so didn't try the third one.
Being low profile means that more of the switch gear behind the face plate needs to go into the back box. Considering that you have two ring mains leads and the load lead, unless you have a deep back box, it is a nightmare.
Turns out that one of the back boxes has probably a 1mm slight bend on the side. The switch gear is so tight to the edge of the box that this meant it could not be fitted. It physically would not insert into the back box, wires or not. Sure, I could replace the back box, but FAR easier to replace the switch!
In addition, the screws for the wires are soft metal. Most of them ended up slightly deforming the slot on tightening. Other makes I have tried seem to have a much harder screw.
The fuse panel is made of a different material or finish and is actually slightly loose in the socket.
Have no idea if Screwfix will take them back, but will certainly try as I cannot use them.
For a new installation with a deep back box and only needing to fit once and you like the slimline finish. Probably ok, but for replacing existing ones with a shallower back box, go for another make."
