"I bought this suction pump simply to 'inject' the oil into my wife's car's transmission. Either end can be unscrewed, making it easy to fill up with oil. I've just checked it as a suction pump with standard manual transmission oil, and it sucked that up fine, so I don't need to unscrew the bottom for filling. If you're trying to suck oil from a diff, it'd be hard to ensure the flexi pipe is always immersed in the fluid, but that's no fault of the product. I just use the drain plugs... This has solved a big problem for me, and was money well spent."
"I needed to draw 750ml of oil from my car in order to introduce an oil additive. Removing the sump plug was not an option... could you imagine the mess? So I researched a suitable tool and purchased this. The suction idea is very good but the tool was very poorly manufactured; it leaked air and oil at the nozzle where the flexible hose attached (no gasket in place) and the washer helping to hold this intake nozzle was the wrong size for the screw diameter. The job took a hour or more; I was only able to draw a very small amount at one time and I still made some mess in transferring the oil from the pump to an oil container. After the job, I dismantled and cleaned the pump, it was then I saw how badly it had been manufactured. Suggestion to all you DIY'ers, don't buy cheap and certainly don't buy THIS!"
"Having read mixed reviews, thought this might be worth a go - after all it's not a big investment. Bought to change the oil in my wife's smart car - it still needs doing as this product didn't even come close to doing the job. Very short hose, which needed extending. Suction very poor and leaking air all over the place. Rubbish. The only good thing is that it didn't suck the oil and so is still as new - ready to return it!"
