Good Draft Seal
12 Nov 2015
By

" I have now installed two of these seals on internal doors. The bottom of the door must be trimmed at an 8 degree angle. An 8 degree angle is not difficult to achieve with a circular saw but cutting at the correct height requires accurate measurements.. As a result, and not wishing to remove too much material, I probably erred on the side of caution and both doors initially needed a good push to close. However, after a few days the rubber seal has compressed and both doors are now closing without difficulty and providing a good seal. "

Weather Seal
2 Nov 2015
By

" The weather seal is well engineered and works well when installed correctly and precisely. (My door is an oak door in an oak timber frame.)
The instructions are good and explain that precise cutting of the door with an 8 degree slope is essential. I achieved this by setting the blade on my circular saw and then using a plane and sander to neaten the cut. It is not a quick job - I had to take the door on & off twice to get the cut exactly right, but this is essential to get long term benefits. The door must be cut to within 2mm of the required dimensions to achieve a good seal. If you want a very good seal, you need to be extremely careful in measurements or get a joiner to do the job.
I also used Stormguard door seals around the top and sides, so my door is now draft and rain proof. Regarding durability, I do not know - it's only been in a couple of weeks. "

stormguard review
8 Nov 2011

" easy to replace the very similar product that had worn out. However, it did not have quite the build quality nor the detail engineering (inclusion of plastic water seals) of the original. probably won't last as long, but it does the job. "
