"Too many people on here who don't know what they are doing. This unit is as simple as it gets. It diplexes signal and splits them across each output, simple as."

Instructions would be nice

"I'm fairly competent with this stuff but this thing had me scratching my head. The reviews so far are useful but when you take the thing out of the box - that's it!. No instructions or anything.
A couple of tips for anyone looking to buy this. It is only good for accepting one cable (mentioned before) but the are two cable tracks anyway (presumably a standard component for their other stuff but it threw me a bit). The next one is you have to undo the centre screw on the front to release the main mech inside. The last one is where does the inner core cable go?. The answer is there is a small hole at the top of one channel only (hence that 's the track you use) and the core wire actually pushes into there (spring clamp) so no clamping screw. When you work out the puzzle it works well and is a good unit so far (1 day) so I've marked the reliability down until I see how it goes.

Basic info for Noobs.

"The important thing to know about this is that you need an amplifier in the loft (or wherever) to mix the satellite and TV inputs before sending them down one piece of coax cable before this little plate splits them again. An example of a suitable amp is a Labgear HDU681/S also from screwfix. No one at screwfix Banbury or on the web was able to furnish this rather basic bit of information that is otherwise quite vital."

TV/Satellite Diplexer
06-Jul-2010
By
, Shetland
"An online search revealed that diplexer units such as these are used in pairs; and that the objective behind using a diplexer is simply to reduce the complexity of wiring inside a building.
This is done by passively combining two (or more) electrical signals of different base frequencies - in this case, a terrestrial TV signal and a satellite LNB signal - and then passing the combined ('diplexed') signal down a single piece of coaxial cable to its final destination. The diplexer's job is to combine the two (or more) signals in such a way that they don't interfere with each other.
At the 'transmitting' diplexer (the diplexer mounted nearest to the TV aerial and the satellite LNB) the signal from the satellite dish would be applied to one coax terminal, while the signal from the roof or loft TV aerial would be applied to the other. The diplexed signals would then be passed down a single coaxial cable attached to the back of this diplexer, with the other end connected to the back of a second (receiving) diplexer inside the main body of the house or building.
The receiving diplexer's satellite socket output would then be connected to a satellite receiver input socket, while its TV output socket would be connected to a TV, VCR, or Freeview tuner.
In this particular application, it was pointed out that high-quality low-loss RG-6 TV coax - similar to Screwfix's item 72308 - would be required: otherwise, the satellite signal could get heavily reduced or lost altogether due to capacitive attenuation.
I hope this little write-up helps to clarify what these things are all about. I researched and wrote it mainly to help me to decide what to buy, and how many of them.
Thank-you, and good-day!"

"The product description from screwfix as of june 08 is vague.
You need to know four things about this if you havent experienced this type of product before.
Firstly its not just a teminal faceplte like a phone socket or a simple Tv outlet, its a piece of equipment that splits the different types of signal from one downlead.
Therefore there is provision for only ONE cable at the back
Secondly there are no instructions for the device in the box
Thirdly the pDF download screwfix provide is of poor quality and does not cover this exact product.
Fourthly and more critically the unit, once wired, is a tight squeeze in a 35mm deep wall box -this isnt mentioned above.
Make sure you use a deep box or set your 25mm one deeper into the wall (and sweet talk the plasterer who will be qute huffy about it).
The unit itself is well made and these gripes aside appears to work really well.

Warning About Sky+
04-Apr-2012
By
, Sussex
"This is a simple box and will allow you to run a single cable to a room from a Labgear distribution box. If you have Sky+ then you need a different unit obviously and still need 2-3 cables run into the room (2 x Sky 1 x Return).
Also note that the Labgear 681 box says it hase 8 outputs yet it fails to mention that the 8 are for UHF/DAB/FM only and there is only 1 Sky connection (and one for Sky+ additional). Very misleading and a pain as I wanted to distribute LNB signals to each room and potentially connect a Sky box in each (like Sky Multi Room).
Make sure you know exactly what you want if you go for the box...."

Item description poor
21-Mar-2012
By
, Huddersfield
"The description of this item is poor and it comes with no instructions.
I was expecting the unit to take 2 coxal cables, one from my sky dish and one from my aerial. This is not the case.
It only takes one cable and it is expected that the signal would be combined in the attic or wherever before running along the single cable. This does not suit my needs as I already have 2 cables in place.
A better description from Screwfix would have helped ensure I bought the right product!"

"It really is a poor show that there is no product detail or fitting instructions with the item. Whilst I am a fairly competent diy er the lack of information resulted in me returning the item."
