"Yes, you've read the title correctly! Believe it or not I tried everywhere to purchase 2 simple 4ft lengths of 1 1/2" diameter steel tubes to be used as coping for the skateboard ramps I'm building with my son. I googled every search engine and tried every local DIY store and even some engineering outlets to no avail as copper and the likes were too soft.
Then I had a eureka moment so tracked down to the Harlow Screwfix to chat with the very friendly staff. Yes too, when explained what I wanted it for the young lady thought it a strange request but opened up this pack for me as I needed to ensure that there was enough extra on both tapered sides to be able to saw off and end up with two 1.2m lengths.
Perfection - I took them home cut to size, screwed to ramp so job now complete, son very happy but alas not much of a TV reception!
"Most masts are pretty flimsy but this is very heavy and has a large diameter (possibly 2") joint is the only downfall though with the right force applied to push one into the other i am guessing this is pretty stable. I may however add a modification to make the joint more solid."
"Purchased to change pole damaged in storms, this looks very strong and hopefully will be reliable, time will be the test. The only downfall is when joining the two sections together to make the full length, the jointing means the pole is slightly kinked, hopefully this will not prove to be a detriment."
"Seeing the poor reviews for the lightweight single I opted for this. Not sure how it would perform as a jointed mast but a single section is very robust and around 1.5m long good enough for me to replace an old steel one that had not survived the recent storms. Also means I have a spare just in case. Only 3 stars for reliability (just fitted) but I cannot see much bringing this one down."
"Returned this pole as very heavy - too heavy for where we wanted to position it. Being in 2 parts which just seem to push together gave us one long crooked pole that seem to rock at the join. Not what we wanted so returned and will get one long, lighter weight strong pole that we feel will be not only straighter but safer overall"
"i have used this mast before it was fine. bought another one for use at my caravan , was a bit disapointed . the joint where you connect the 2 sections together was a poor fit, although the mast did fit together it was a bit wobbly at the join,"
