" My first ever cordless was a Hitachi many years ago and lasted for many years. Only giving up when the batteries did. The drill still performed well. This new drill has all the feel of quality I would expect from Hitachi and tackles everything thrown at it with ease. I would highly recommend. "

" Had a Bosch 24 volt for many years and it just gave up the ghost after many years faithful service. Saw this one advertised with 2 batteries and read the reports and decided to give it a try.
Was in need of one straight away so ordered this one with free delivery next day. It actually arrived in less time than it would have taken me to go over to Burnley and pick one up because they are a next day pick up item. I have just spent the last 2 days making a fence and using 2 1/2 inch and 3 inch screws nod it drove them all in without pilot holes no hesitation .
I feel this one is going to serve me better than the ni- cad Bosch, and it's a lot lighter and more powerful . Thanks screwfix and Hitachi.

Robust, sturdy well balanced

" This is the latest in a long line of cordless combi drills I've bought over the years but the first bearing the Hitachi name and I'm certainly not disappointed.
The balance of the drill is very good, important when using as a drill driver and the torque settings ensure that screws don't sink too far.
As a drill, the power is easily sufficient for most jobs, even when using for drilling masonary etc.
A real bonus is the speed of re-charging the battery - easily ready within an hour.
Whatever you've used before - consider this Hatachi before you decide on your replacement - it's really very very good. "

Budget disapointment

" Whilst Hitachi holds an excellent name in the majority of it's products I was some what disillusioned with this particular hand drill, having had a Bosch drill for several years (Nicad battery) which gave up the ghost and needed updating, I decided to buy the Hitachi DV18DSFL which came with 2x 1.5AH batteries in October 2014 as a suitable replacement for my DIY activities. I have only used the drill about 6 times the drill fits well in the hand quite light, however I found that after several seconds of drilling the chuck gave way and released the bit from the drill. I have contacted Hitachi and they are collecting the drill to inspect. "
