Better than you think

"A great product. Does not shine in your eyes, but gives a wide soft light. Having had it 5 months, it is better than I could have wished for. Picks up movement at about 10m, best of all does not upset the neighbours, which the previous halogen light did."

Just what I expected
25 Mar 2012
By AnDee

"Having read the other reviews on here, I was sceptical about purchasing this light. I wanted the light to aid walking down a pathway in my yard but not too violating as to dazzle you whilst sat at the outside table. We often entertain friends in the yard and have several low energy post lights around. This in turn creates a mood lighting effect. The exception being that when someone needs to walk down the garden, we required a more guiding and appropriate light to allow the visitors safe access to and from the house. This is the product for us. Its cheap to run (average 4p per days 24hrs) much less than halogen. It does create a moon style glow, which is not dazzling or blinding and easily absorbed whist sat in the garden. Would recommend"

Good but new tech be better

"I have had four of these one on each side of house for over a year. Initially impressed with the very bright CFL 6000k, out of 8 bulbs 3 of the cfls have gone not having much luck finding direct replacements same wattage yes but not light colour. Lights are sensitive I put them a little higher than recommendations to avoid any vandalism can pick up trucks/tractors 25metres away but may miss you if wearing a hat or something directly underneath, my own fault. For practicality if fitting security lights again I would research / buy LED security lights"

Don't expect halogen
17 Mar 2012
By DIYBill
, Glasgow
"I've used this product for a couple of weeks now,and as long as you don't expect high power halogen then this is a good product. The light output is MUCH better than the power rating suggests, the LEDs are good for lighting the doorway before the main light switches on. This isn't 500/120 watt halogen Light level but it is good for one twentieth of the power usage and is good lighting the garden to move around and has a wide spread. One thing to mention the light fitting has a poor design (IMHO) for attachment to the wall. The backplate for the sensor box is screwed to the wall and the whole weight of the fitting is supported by the wall plate.I modified the U bracket from the old light fitting and attached it to the light box so that the weight is supported thru the main light box. The original fitting might be ok but I wasn't willing to chance it.
Pro-
Low power low useage cost
Twin lamp (more reliable)
Led lights on when main light not activated,
Plastic body no corrosion.
Easy adjustment as controls are bigger than normal.
Con-
Poor wall attachment
Light output lower than halogen ( lower power use)

Badly described
3 Aug 2014
By swyftie

"I purchased two of these lights based on reviews from other customers and wanting a lower energy alternative to existing security lights.
The plan was to replace a low level light covering our garage door and another flood light just beneath our roof, so around 6m high.
I opened the first light to find one of the bulbs had arrived smashed...not the best start.
I opened the second, set it all up and placed it exactly where the lower level light used to sit, immediately realising that because these are attached to the wall via their PIR sensors as opposed to a separate mounting bracket, they have to be lower to pick up any movement so I amended the position and was happy with the results.
As this light is mounted via it's PIR, the flexibility of light and sensor position is greatly limited.
When it gets dark a series of LED lights come on and remain on for the night, only going out if the main light is triggered, which itself provides a soft but effective flood light.
The second light (with the broken bulb) is sat gathering dust in the garage as it is of no use for what I needed it for all thanks to Screwfix failing to mention the height limit (which is mentioned in the instructions as somewhere just over 2m). This product may very well have received a much better review had it not been for the lack of pre-purchase data provided by Screwfix."

Not good at all

"I installed 2 of these and one did not work at all. You cannot adjust the angle of the sensor and the floodlight flops around impossible to set in position. The instructions are more than useless and completely fail to mention the function of the 10 LEDs. I'm still not sure what these do.
If you buy one of these your world will be plunged into a new level of darkness from which you might never emerge!"

Great concept but poor perform
23 Oct 2013
By Boders

"The instructions were very poor and did not mention the LED lights function at all.
The Flood worked ok and it was a soft light unlike halogen.
However the LED lights underneath flashed on and off in about 5 second intervals day and night.
Unfortunately I had to take it back as faulty and felt that due to its poor build quality I would replace it with an LED flood and stand alone sensor.
Great idea and design but poor quality.

Rubbish Instructions
26 Sep 2013
By grumpyoldmanagain

"The main light seems to work OK but the 2 small side lights just flash intermittently, no indication of how to adjust these lights, turn them on or off etc. I've tried, adjusting the PIR sensor all the way to the lowest level but no luck.
The wall mounting bracket is fiddly to fit and I can't imagine it lasting that long. There is no way to lock the lamp in position and it kinda flops around, barely holding its position.
After an hour installing it I'm going to have to return it, these flashing side light are driving me crazy. Even if this light was $5 I'd not buy it again.

Shame they didn't work
27 Aug 2013
By DIYorGetRippedOff

"When the lights came on they gave an impressive amount of light but unfortunately one unit was faulty, the PIR sensor didn’t pick up anything. The light only came on when the sensitivity pot was turned. The other unit only detected movement up to 1.5 m from the sensor. Both had their sensitivity turned up to max. Returned for a refund."

not so eco light
27 Dec 2012
By 1spark

"I found the whole light product of poor quality considering the cost, had it been under £20 would have given value an extra star. It looks good in the right place but absence of traditional mounting bracket made it difficult to sight & mount using plastic base, don't fancy going back to change lamp either. It cost so much time to install I lost profit on job and maybe a customer if it fails before winter ends. Needs better set up instructions and mounting method. The idea behind the light is good but overall design & manufacturing lets it down."

Not a good outside light

"Not good for a flood light. not bright enough
My client described it as 'like the moon'
somewhat ghostly.
Had to replace it with a decent light.
