Coolfit 12v MR16 lamps.

"This lamp is a must for fittings that are recessed into ceilings. They may cost more, than budget lamps but they throw most of the heat forward rather than back into the recess. Less heat damage to wiring and structure."

2 duds in 2 packs
14 Dec 2012

"Bought a couple of packs and 2 out of the 10 were duds. Screwfix replacement quick to replace but who wants to keep gping back. They're not the cheapest bulb out there so one would expect a better level of quality control from Sylvania. On the plus side, replacing my still working but old bulbs has made a significant difference. The old bulbs had been gradually destroying their insulator which had coated the reflector reducing brightness signficantly.
Chose these because they are aluminium reflector rather than dichroic after reading about the difference. For those not aware, dichroic throws the heat from the bulb behnd the bulb rather than forward. This means that what you have behind the bulb needs to be very carefully considered to avoid overheating and fire risk. I took away the impression that unless what you're lighting is sensitive to heat, you're better off with the aluminium type. Also worth noting that there are significant differences between the various bulbs in terms of their rated brightness in candelas (shown in the Screwfix catalogue).
Will need to see how these last so reliability only assessed on initial experience. My previous bulbs were Osram which have lasted well, but detriorated as mentioned above.."
