"I have had several head torches in the past and have never felt completely happy with them. On this occasion I decided to to splash out, as I use these quite regularly. I have so far been completely happy with it, it provides an excellent light (which it appears I need as time passes by), with 3 light levels. I would strongly recommend this head torch."

"The information on this product states that the focus is adjustable, this is not so. It has a strong beam with a less bright area around the edge, the size and shape of the beam cannot be altered. The lamp unit and separate battery box are both made of plastic, the "Robust and weatherproof aluminium body" referred to in the product description must be the inner reflector unit holding the actual LED The whole unit is quite bulky, the lamp unit is 43mm diameter and the battery box is also large (it does hold 4 AA batteries) A comfortable fit on the head can be achieved with careful adjustment of the straps. Having the weight of the batteries on the back of the harness, behind the head, helps here. The lamp unit can be tilted on the harness from horizontal (straight ahead ) to near vertically downwards. There are 3 levels of light available, first press of the (very stiff) switch is bright, press again for very bright and a third press for low level. As a light source for outdoor activities at night this is a very good unit, on full power You can see for miles! But not so good as a mechanic's headlight where having a very bright spot in your eye line is quite distracting for close up work. It is of course possible to turn the power to the low setting but if that's all You need save some money and buy a lower powered head torch."

"I purchased this head torch and failed to check inside the box before leaving the store. When i got home and inspected the torch i found it to be defective. The screw which holds the battery compartment together had snapped leaving the thread in making it impossible to open. The batteries had been inserted and it was obvious that the torch had either been on display or previously returned. The unit should come with the batteries in a sealed pack and the torch wrapped in plastic."
