"another great quality product from McAlpine never had an issue yet, great price again from screwfix, not bought because of gurgling issues but i just use Anti-Syphon traps as standard and with this price theres no reason not too."

Review 3 for McAlpine Anti-Syphon Bottle Trap 32mm White
"The trap I purchased is not as silent, as McAlpine state it to be. " Silentrap" is their name for this trap
Conventional situation, upstairs bathroom with a drop of 1 meter from trap to the 4" down pipe, over a 3.5 meter run.
Thought I would eliminate the gurgle and installed one of these. The gurgle however was replaced by a deep pulsing noise akin to a motor bike outside followed by a chattering sound from the AAV.
I have tried to contact 'McAlpine Plumbing' but there is no phone number, or email address. There is a 'contact us' form on their website. But that is only available to qualified plumbing professionals! Like you need a degree in plumbing to be able to hand tighten 2 plastic nuts?
So I did as McAlpine instructed and contacted the supplier, Screwfix, who were excellent and offered to supply a replacement trap next day free of charge. You cant really ask for more than that.
When it arrives I will fit it and then look to see if there is anything amiss with the original one, which I hope there is.
I will try to update this post as soon as I've fitted the new one."

Review 8 for McAlpine Anti-Syphon Bottle Trap 32mm White
"My new house had 2 of these fitted on a double kitchen sink. Now after 2 years of use the Air Admittance Valve on the side that we regularly fill up with water leaks water badly when you dump more than about 3" water from the sink. The one that we rarely fill with water still passes the test. Cleaning the trap and valve has only made matters worse! It all looks perfect except for a bit of barely detectable distortion of the thin black rubber washer in the AAV and the valve has too little weight and no spring to flatten it against the seal face. If it doesn't seal it allows water to come up the duct from the trap and a jet of water hits the valve seat sideways and further displaced it. I am going to seal it up with silicone and suffer the gurgling and reduced water seal height. If the valve doesn't seal you get a few sewer smells anyway!"
