Good Reliable Lamps
7 May 2012

" I purchased these lamps to replace some original fluorescent lamps that have eventually started to go following well over ten years of use, the original lamps were the early type single glass U shape. These new Sylvania lamps are much quicker to start than the originals as they would take up to 4 seconds to start and up to 3-4 minutes to get to full brightness, unfortunately pay back time on these will be over a couple of years as they are fitted to wall lights in the bedroom and are only used a maximum of about 1 hour a day.
Originally the 4 twin fittings had 40 Watt candle lamps fitted with a total output of 320 Watt, fitting the original fluorescent U shape lamps brought that down to 72 Watts, a difference of 248 Watts. In comparison the fluorescent lamps cost approximately 1.8 pence an hour to run as opposed to 8 pence an hour with 40 Watt candle lamps fitted. "
