"Never had a bad product from Screwfix but at less than a pound thought this lock would be cheap tat. Thought I'd try it nonetheless as it was a low value replacement for three internal doors for a relative on a tight budget. Well suprised at quality of the lock for the price with smooth catch action. Fitted easily and for price cannot complain when similar locks are a lot more expensive. Test will be in how long it lasts but at price, can't complain!"
"Have had no problems with this, other than having to square off the cavity into which it fits. The latch it replaced had much more rounded body. Bear this in mind if you are replacing a load of them."
"These are at the cheap end, so perhaps my expectations were too high... They look OK and were a doddle to fit, but even when carefully located, there is movement on the latch - i.e. when the door is closed, it's possible to move the door slightly in/out because the latch moves within the barrel.
This can result in the latch not popping out into the catch when the door is closed - the latch will 'drag' behind slightly - lowering the handle and raising it again allows the latch to catch because it goes 'straight in' rather than sliding along the strike plate. Setting the strike plate further forward would allow the latch to catch every time, but then doesn't hold the door tight closed in the frame.
Not bad, but I wish I'd spent a little more and tried a different latch."
"Latches are things I want to fit for life. I've had a handful of these fail are between 3 and 5 years and that isn't good enough for a customer so I now fit the branded bolt through type Which cost £2.50+ but are far better made."
"I hang a lot of doors and these latches are unreliable. I bought about 20 and at least 6-8 were defective. The latch gets stuck inside the housing and after fitting, once the door is closed, the latch can be pushed open from the other side without turning the handle. Very cheaply made and don't waste your time and money. Spend another £2/3 and get better quality."
