"Picked one of these up yesterday for £24.29 from Screwfix where other online retailers can charge a lot more.
This model had exactly the features I needed to replace a mechanical time switch on my very old but very good combi boiler and the brand was one of three recommended by my heating engineer, so seemed good value at this price.
Unless the spec has changed overnight, this model has *three* on/off periods per day, not four as now stated in the description. I'm sure the description said three yesterday, so maybe it has changed.
Fitting the timer to the boiler was a doddle using the cables from the old timer for the boiler PCB connections - four cables: supply live, supply neutral and switch in and out - and the switch mounted nicely onto the wall beside the boiler (50mm min clearance required all around.)
The build quality is fine. It's not a luxury model but neither does it feel cheap. Setting the time and programming is very easy with the included instructions (or even without - it's pretty standard stuff.)
The backlit LCD is clear and the backlight goes off when the device is not being programmed, leaving the time and current settings clearly visible under normal light. The back-up battery is rated at 10 months constant use (ie no mains supply) and is kept 'fresh' until you commission the device by pulling out a paper tab.
All in all I am very happy with this purchase so far. It's been running 24 hours and has done exactly what it should so far. I will update this review if anything goes awry."
