"I've been polishing everything i can get my hands on... very addictive.
See this hammer. Most of it was done with a wire wheel, but you can see on the head of it where it is especially shiny - like a mirror, i could have spent half an hour and made the whole thing gleaming but... i mean... it's a hammer.
Brings up electroplating - even heavily corroded - shiny like new (pitting may remain, but that's no fault of the polisher, and only visible when up close.)
kit is all good quality and performs well.
I would HIGHLY recommend a couple of more abrasive wheels to start with, a wire wheel for getting heavy corrosion off, then a medium wheel such as scotch brite before polishing."
"How did I manage without this kit before.. Easy to fit on my bench grinder and easy and fun to use. It brings metal up to looking like chrome.. Such value to my car restoration project.. Highly recommended…"
"This is a good, effective metal polishing kit, limited only by the inadequacies of my entry level 150 Watt bench grinder. I'm sure a more powerful bench grinder would deliver better, or at least quicker results.
My 150 Watt grinder spins the relatively heavy polishing and cutting "mops" easily, but anything other than a very light touch with a piece of metal will produce sufficient braking effect to stop the wheel. This is manageable, but, like most things, patience is required to produce the best results.
The spindle fit the standard 12.7mm gauge grinder drive shaft, although I was surprised to find that it didn't have an internal thread, and relied on a single allen key "grub" screw to hold the spindle in place. There is no allen key provided with the kit, and I did not find one small enough to fit the screw in my set, using a screwdriver to tighten it instead.
Addition of an appropriate allen key, and a second spindle would enable both the cutting and polishing 'mops" to be attached to the grinder at the same time, improving my rating of this kit.
Swapping the polishing and cutting mops over isn't a huge task, but having a grinder set up with both would make the metal polishing task more efficient. It's a shame that this "kit" doesn't fully enable that.
However, as I said at the start, this is a good, effective kit, which I would recommend. The improvements I suggest could be made by adding more items, rather than changing anything that's already in the kit."
