"Purchased to replace an old unit. Fitted in less than 30 minutes, which included removing the old unit. Easy to install with very good instructions. The same type of unit has replaced others in the building and they have been very reliable - which an emergency exit light needs to be! Highly Recommended."
"Been using these for for a year or so now, very reliable. Easy to use, easy to fit. Come complete with fire escape running man decals (others charge up to £4 for these!) Can't see the point in paying more. Come charged ready to use."
"I was motivated to buy this light after our power tripped and the house was plunged into darkness. Some time was spent fumbling in the pitch black for a torch before the trip could be reset.
The unit is of good, solid construction, but is not particularly attractive in the home environment. I mounted my unit on top of a kitchen cupboard where it would not normally be seen, but would provide adequate light when activated. It takes its power from a nearby 13 A socket which I can leave switched on all the time. If the power should fail then the light will come on immediately.
"Just brought and installed two of them. (see picture) Overall very pleased, well worth the money. Only "gripe" on both units, the "back plate" fixing screws had to be completely removed as either the heads are too big or the keyhole slots are too small.
Simple to install, I can not really comment on reliability since I have only had them for just over an hour.
I would say install one now, power cuts don't happen often, but when they do, you will thank me for suggesting you fit one."
Product 1) The mounting screws for the metal chassis have keyhole holes...great...but the tolerance is so tight that after painting, the screw heads no longer fit through the keyhole so they have to be fully removed
Product 2) The captive screws on the clear covers do not remain captive...problem with the sizing of the red washers, maybe no plain shank on the screws.
Instructions ..generally good English... not a translation problem as with many products.
Instructions 1) Not clear whether the LED means charging mode (ie power ok), or actually charging (battery also ok)
Instructions 2) Is it ok to connect power without plugging in the battery, not clear
Instructions 3) Sequence cannot be followed as we are told to fit baseplate before we are told to plug in battery, but battery and plug are behind baseplate. If followed, we would have to remove the baseplate again, plug in battery, replace baseplate again.
Reliability given a middle ie average rating only because I will have to wait 5 years to measure a true answer !"
"As per other review, I too got this unit. My kids hate it when the trip throws the house in darkness, so I mounded it on 1st fl landing and took power off the landing socket using a doubler. I too agree it is rather ugly, esp as the cover is clear, so you can see the tube and screws etc. It does do the job well. No fumbling on the stairs. Well worth the £15. Just remember to discharge it every quarter so the battery gets full charge."
