When I collected the cable, it was coiled up and tied with tie-wraps as you would expect, but instead of being in a plastic seal, the cable had a cardboard display sleeve around it, that only covered a very small area of the cable (as can be seen in the 2nd product image for this item).
This would possibly be OK for normal dark flex, but with this being white, and more importantly, being used on an iron that comes into contact with white clothes, this cable was seriously unprotected. It wasn't until I started fitting it that I noticed how grubby certain patches of the cable were, and upon re-coiling it, you could clearly see that the only really clean areas were the bits originally under the cardboard.
this cable works perfectly, and is excellent quality and value for money, but when you buy one, inspect it before you leave the store, as it took lots of cleaning before it could be used, in case it dirtied clean white clothes etc.
Service in-store was excellent as usual, and I would highly recommend this as a replacement cable, but I would strongly suggest that Screwfix review the packaging issue with this item.
If you look closely at the advertising picture (2nd one) you can even see slight grubby patches on that cable, and I would guess that it had been lying around the warehouse much less than all the other cables, and the one I bought.
I would have uploaded a photo, but the iron was being repaired for a work colleague and I had already cleaned it when I received the email suggesting I write a review."
