Great connector if used right

" Very happy once I worked out how to fit it properly.
Cut the cable so it has a bit over 1/4 inch of the centre copper core exposed, then 1/4 inch of the white dielectric. Fold the braid back and trim to 1/4 inch long. Cut the foil off the white dielectric.
Then the critical part: push the cable *hard* into the connector, so the tube inside the connector pushes into the cable between the braid and the foil. The dielectric should reach just to the hole in the centre of the plug. Now use the compression tool. This squashes the blue plastic so it forms a seal around the sheath, pinching it between the body and the inner tube - this forms the weatherproof seal.
The result should be a connector that is weatherproof and impossible to pull off.
If necessary trim the centre copper wire so it is just proud of the rim of the plug.
I applied silicone grease inside the plug before fitting, to aid in weatherproofing and lubricate the thread.
This is a great connector, it feels solid, works smoothly, and looks great. "

Tight as a ducks ?

" These are good if you get the preparation right first. Make sure you get the white plastic dielectric pushed right into the centre front of the joint or it will fail. If you are unsure buy a pack of the cheap one to practice on. It pays in the long run. "

Good Product

" I had trouble installing these at first, but this was because I was not using the compression tool properly now I get a good fit each time. I used these on wpf100 and pf100 cables.
Using the Coaxial Cable Stripper neatly cuts the cable with the correct length of inner and outer sheath removed. This is essential to a good fit in the F compression connector.
Insert the prepared cable into the compression connector and fit into the compression tool. Make sure both connector and cable are properly aligned in the tool.
SLOWLY press hard so that the connector is fully compressed and the tool will not close any further.
Then carefully ease the connector and cable out of the tool. Job done! "

Great...when used correctly

" Contrary to another review, I use these plugs all the time. They have never failed when used correctly. Other than insufficient compression, there are three reasons why a plug won't grip the cable correctly: 1) too much braid is folded back over the outer jacket. 2) the cable isn't pushed home correctly 3) it's the wrong diameter cable. These work best with high quality ultra low loss WF100 cables @ 6.55+mm diameter. Thinner cables such as 6.4mm Labgear PF100 may work but you'll need to be more careful when fitting. "

OK but not as good as hoped

" When they go on securely they are fine. the problem is that frequently they do not grip the coax securely and therefore I always test them with a good tug after fitting. About half the time they come off.
I found the other compression f connectors are as unreliable too. I have used several different tools to apply them and the Lab Gear tool is about the best of them. "

Fail to grip cable

" Used with PF100 cable, fitting does not grip cable allowing it to slide out no matter how tight you pull it up. "
