You can't ask for much more...
6 Mar 2015

" If you look on the net you will see there is much confusion about how to get the product out of the packaging and how to insert blade.
Firstly you will need scissors to remove the bulk of the hard clear plastic.
From what I remember some of the packaging (card) is inside where the blade is - you have to press the red button at the front to release the card - then the packaging will seperate from the product.
The red button at the back allows you to open the handle to acess the blade storage area.
In order to bend the knife you have to press a sort of metal switch in the middle (makes sense when you see it but when it is straight it is fixed and in order to fold it you have to press the metal - which allows the knife to fold).
The good
-it folds
-lightweight
-blade storage (3 blades I think)
-it comes with some blades
-looks nice and standards out
-you can adjust how much the blade comes out
-there is a slot a quarter of the way down which allows you to use the blade to cut wire without opening the blade all the way out
The bad
-I understand it is a problem with all retractable blades - the blade itself does move a very small amount side to side as it is not screwed into place like some of the old school Stanley knives - it sits on a thing which allows it to retract - which is what causes the movement.
Overall, if you wnat a foldable knife then this is probably as good as it gets. If you need the blade to be absolute rock solid and note move at all then you may need a fixed model - I suspect the vast majority of serious DIY'ers will be fine with this. "

Excellent knife

" It took me a while to work out how to insert the blade properly, then again it took me a while to get it out of its packaging. Good storage of blades, and now I know how, very easy to change blades, and folds up very neatly. Also locks very well when open.
Highly recommended

" This Knife is a very good and safe one. Light can use on site as the blade is not fixed, reduces down rather small and compact, reat for not taking up much room in your kit. "

Great Knife

" After using cheaper alternatives I visited your store in Newtownabbey (hooray at long last we have Screwfix in Northern Ireland) and purchased the Stanley Fatmax Folding Knife. Only fault with the purchase was removing the packaging. Delighted with the knife, does exactly what it says on the tin!!
Also purchased 2 x 10 litres of Crown White Emulsion at an excellent knock down price of £25. "

STANLEY FATMAX KNIFE
3 Jan 2013
By none2
, Exmouth,Devon
" The knife was marvellous just what I needed to give as a present to a family member. The only thing against it was that there was no instructions with it informing the buyer on how to close the knife up properly and how to remove it without damaging the blade or cutting hands. The casing was not normal cardboard, maybe a prompt into how to remove it. "

Great wee knife
12 Mar 2012
By Foxy78

" This knife is just as good as any normal stanley knife, but has the added bonus of folding in half so it fits in your pocket easier. Another good thing is that the knife actually retracts, unlike many other folding knifes on the market. It also has storage for two blades in the handle. "

" Nice and comfortable, and easy to open/fold one handed. Hardest job was extracting it from the packaging.
Only downside I can find is that I cannot get it to accept the hook blades. They slide in but will not lock into place. "

Good folding stanley knife

" good compact easy to use general purpose knife.
The only down side was extracting the packaging from the blade slot was difficult, And the blade changing mechanism is stiff so slightly tricky pushing a new sharp blade into place! "

Gumshoe
10 Apr 2012

" The knife is a good size to hold in your pocket when folded and this makes it easy to carry around safely when working and it is of good build quality.
My one bug bear is the initial set-up (getting the blade in and secure). I initially thought the knife was broken as the blade would not stay in place and the incremental thumb blade opener would not move the blade. I then googled the item and found out how to do it. Obvioulsy others had the same problem. (No instructions provided). When you know how its very easy but Stanley need to look at the initial setup instructions.
Anway its a decent knife thats safe to carry around when folded. "
