"A good device to fit under the desk, as it sorts out the bird's nest of extension leads to a typical PC installation. I have a printer, music speakers system, overhead light, remote digital phone, ipod and Wi Fi modem all connected and now protected from mains surges. I have peace of mind now as and when the storms occur, and I do not have to unplug the lot when going on holiday. A friend of mine had his house struck by lightening and his modem caught fire, luckily, with the doors to his office were closed, and the fire chocked itself out, but the smoke damage was horrendous and the whole incident worrying. So for my money it is really worth investing in this sort of device as part of the home security policy."
"This is the second Masterplug Surge Protection Extension Tower that I have purchased. There are cheaper ones on the market but they seem large and ugly. This one is compact, neat and easy to use. I cannot vouch for it's "surge protection" as fortunately I have not had a power surge to contend with. However as a way to keep all the plugs and cables to your devices tidy it is perfect."
"Easy to install & access sockets. I have plugged my permanent plugs into the back and my mobile ones (e.g. Laptop) into the front. Great value at the reduced price of 14.99 compared with the likes of Belkin Can't really comment on reliability yet"
"Bought four of these and turned my rat's nest of computer cables, printer cables and telephone cables into something approaching order. Expensive items, but much less bother than an ordinary gang plug and makes it easier to keep the floor clear and clean."
"Good product, but don't whatever you do assemble the base until you completely understand in which order to put it together. I took mine out of the packet, assumed I clicked both base parts together then lifted the plug part into the base unit, only to find you lift the plug part onto one of the base parts first, then slide the base top cover down onto the second base part. If you do what I did, you can't disassemble it & you're stuffed! I now have a base unit + a seperate plug tower. Contacted MasterPlug to ask for advice & was told "Dear Mr ******, We are sorry to hear that you have accidentally assembled the base for your tower style extension lead before inserting the sockets. The base sections are designed as a `one-fit’ item to prevent then coming apart due to uneven pressure once they are assembled, which means that there is unfortunately no easy way to disassemble the halves without damaging the clips on one or both parts. If you have any other questions please feel free to call us on 08451 947 584 and speak to an operator. Our opening hours are 08:30 to 17:00 weekdays only (excluding bank holidays). Kind regards"
Gutted isn't the word. lesson learn't, but thanks a million MasterPlug for offering no help whatsoever!
Why not sell the unit in one piece ready to remove & use, like every other tower unit we've bought previously?"
