"Purchased to connect a new sink to an old waste. needed to make up a 40mm horizontal difference and a 50mm vertical difference from the old sink. No leaks, easy to fit, just need to make sure you slide the seals inplace by hand first so that they tighten properly, then no problems."

Review 2 for McAlpine Adjustable Inlet Tubular 'P' Trap 40mm White
"Brilliant replacement if your kitchen sink (as mine) doesn't empty very quickly and water from the washing machine comes up into the sink.
I tried the usual route of use chemicals to unblock the pipes (including having a getting plumber to the same using trade-only acid based stuff# but the washing machine waste was still coming up into the sink.
Looking at the old P-Trap I could see the waste pipe from the washing machine was going up and over the cupboard divider and down into an appliance adapter - BUT the appliance adapter was at the same level as the outflow for the sink waste, so it sounded reasonable to me that the water from the w/machine was going up the sink because it was one of the easier places to go #as there was no lower centre of gravity for the kitchen waste pipe#.
So, having just replaced the old P-Trap with this AND making sure the kitchen waste pipe IS LOWER #i.e. closer to the ground# than the w/machine waste I can now happily report both the kitchen sink not only clears much faster AND the w/machine no longer rises up into the sink!!
FINALLY, a solution to a problem that has been bugging me for a few years now #despite the advise of others that the old P-Trap having the w/machine at the same level as the kitchen sink waste was acceptable).
In short therefore if you believe you've blocked pipes AND you've tried/had them cleaned and the problem persists it's more likely that the kitchen sink waste needs to be lower than any inflow.
