"Just fitted new MCB's to replace 1960's rewireable fuse bridges in Wylex consumer unit. As tenants moving in shortly, thought it advisable to ensure something simple (and tamper proof) was in place. I expect that failing light bulbs may trip 6A breaker #testament to sensitivity of MCB) but much safer. Have rated reliability as 5*, although don't know how they will last, but have only had one problem with MCB's over many years and that was one that became oversensitive - hardly a bad thing!"
"These are a brilliant piece of kit. Switch off the mains, pull out the old type fuse holders, remove the cover over the fuse holder, replace with the new cover supplied (different colours for different ratings) then plug in the MCB. Switch on and job done! Just ensure that the correct rated MCB replaces each fuse.
No more fiddling about replacing fuse wire in the holder. The only drawback, if you can call it one, is that if a bulb blows the MCB MAY trip out, but we can live with that for the additional safety."
