"These Valves although on the site say they are compatible for 10mm microbore pipes, the instructions say they are also good for 8mm piping. Be warned they are good for 10mm, not 8mm.
I have a heating system using 15, 10 and 8 mm piping (to help naturally balance the system- natural restriction for the downstairs radiators).
These valves come with a 15mm compressional olive so are also good for 15mm pipes. (no surprise there!)
They also come supplied with a 15 - 10mm reducer. These are handy little gadgets and work well. Like olives, they work by compression so ensure the area they are to be fitted is free from old paint and dirt - give it a good clean with wire wool/wet n dry! The pipework may also have damage (slight impression) caused by the previous compression olive(s), which could prevent a seal and give cause to a leak. It is therefore beneficial in this case to use jointing compound, fit the olive, compress (tighten) and then back-off to reveal the compressed olive; then wrap PTFE around the newly fitted olive. To be a belts and braces plumber, do both! Its all common/good practice (albeit in my book), so fear not.
The reducers can only be fitted one way, they should not be tightened to much or damage to the reducer may result, and could cause a leaky joint. The reducers are waisted and are designed to shear, the two parted collars form a tight seal very much like a collet. when/if you come to remove the valve, the 2 parted collars slide off easily. You will need a new reducer as they are designed to be used once and then throw away.
These valves do the job well, they are cheap and provide flexibility if you have a 10mm pipes.
For those with 15mm pipes, there are cheaper products which do the same job, just as effectively, see my other reviews.
For this reason I will give 4 stars instead of 5 for value."

"fitted this today but was not confident with the collapseable olive supplied(Never having used one before) so decided to use a 15mm to 8mm yorkshire reducer fitting(the soldering type). Cleaned the end of the pipe & gave it a coating of solder to make sure of a good connection. Because it was being fitted upstairs I only had to drain part of the system. I gave it a 4* for reliability but I am basing this on its looks & company name. I thought the price was a bargain, you could pay a lot more for it elsewhere. One little complaint, there could have been better instructions especially about the collapseable olive."

I do not use the 10mm converter as enclosed. I use a 10mm to an internal 15 mm stright connector when replacing an existing valve

TRV to 8mm ?

"This TRV has a good low profile shape and is an appealing overall design, however the method of fixing with the collapsing olive requires an absolutely blemish free pipe to afix to, I waisted one unit due to the collapsing olive not afixing to the pipe - causing leakage and a wrecked olive. As the olive is a one time use - it actually breaks to adhere to the pipe aunder compression I was not too impressed, fitted bulldog to replace and they were similar in design - but fitted better. I am left with a TRV and no olive. I am sure it may have been fine on a 10mm pipe - but I am stuck with 8mm."

"Fitted one of these along with a standard valve to a combi system recently.
There was a problem with the standard valve, it had a drip on the rad connector so I needed to close the two valves so I could drain just the rad and not the system, losing the inhibitor in the process. That's when I discovered there was no way to make this valve close - some valves are supplied with a 'cap' to close them off but not this one. I found a cap that would fit, stuck a coin in it to make sure and STILL could not close the valve. I ended up draining the system and having learnt the lesson threw the blasted thing away and fitted a standard valve instead.
