Door Retainers at their best
1 May 2015
By
, Brighton
" I feel these door retainers are the best around for the price of them, they install very easy, they look good, and because they were so good i purchased 27 of these for my school. i work in a school so you can imagine fire regulations are very high on the list but these retainers tick all the boxes, After they have been installed you may have to adjust the setting on them because a vacuum cleaner noise was releasing the door retainer this was very easy to do just a simple turn of a screw which is on the front of the item. Cannot comment on reliability as have only had for a short period of time "

Close those fire doors
1 Aug 2014
By
, London
" We had a problem that people kept on propping open Fire Doors in our building. Not good, but how to solve the problem? Dorgard product was the answer. Releases doors when the fire alarm goes off and automatically releases all the doors at a preset time in the evening. Ingenious. "

" A good product. Works well, except when noisey trolleys etc, pass by and release the door, as it is triggered by sound. Plays an electronic sound when the battey is going flat. Some people can't work out where the sound is comming from and don't realise it is the Dorgard. "

Dorgard hold open device
5 Aug 2008
By
, Newcastle
" This is a very clever way of providing the means to hold open a Fire Door in a safe way, without spending hundreds of pounds having a magnetic device hard wired to your fire alarm system, but the door can still close in seconds when the Fire Alarm sounds.
They cost less than £100, take minutes to fit rather than hours or days with a hard wired system and don't involve damaging the decoration and can be fitted by anyone with a bit of savvy.
This is one of those magic solutions which crop up occasionaly in the way WD40 did years ago.

" This product solved an ongoing problem with a fire door being wedged open. It was very easy to fit and the instructions were clear. It has practical features and whilst it may seem costly ask yourself what price would you pay to be legal and safe? "

" Much cheaper than hard-wiring a device into the fire alarm circuits. Easy to fit and it works a treat. The only drawback is having to remove the device to re-set the timers. "

Dorgard Fire Door Retainer
19 Mar 2015
By
, Hertfordshire
" We bought this item for our Canteen Kitchen's Main door. The door had to be kept open but was a Fire door. The Dorgard Fire Door Retainer was a great purchase for us as it provided a cheap and effective solution for what could have caused us a great deal of problems.
There were some teething issues, with the noise levels in the kitchen causing the Dorgard to close on a number of occasions. But after I adjusted the sensitivity of the Dorgard this problem was soon resolved.
The Dorgard comes with Base plates which can be used if the floors are too slippery for the Dorgard to grip on. This was fantastic as we were also having that problem keeping the door open. But after we fitted the baseplate the door has stayed open.
The Dorgard Fire Door Retainer is an inexpensive and efficient product and I thoroughly recommend it. "

Convienient way to comply

" Fire regulations stop you wedging doors during working hours and wiring in a magnetic system after the installation has been completed would create havoc and cost so this was an easy way to solve the problem. Easy to fit and worked first time. Good price and same as from the manufacturer. Lets see if the batteries last 6 months like they suggest!? "

Best of its kind
24 May 2012
By
, Portsmouth
" The Dorgard fire door retainer is a great alternative to the more robust magnetic hold back devices, which require hard-wiring to the alarming system. Installation is quick and easy, so no costly installation fees from electricians or alarm engineers, however it does require batteries, so occasional maintenance would be required much the same as a domestic smoke alarm. As the device operates from the sound of an alarm, they are prone to spurious releasing with certain other sounds such as vacuum cleaners. However this only proves that the device is doing what is expected of it. "

Door guard problems

" I have bought a few of these units and I am dissapointed in the short life span of the batteries. I have tried all kinds of batteries but whether it's the office environment or not they just don't seem to last. The sensitivity isn't the best either, even adjusted to the max, they still go of when they shouldn't. "
