"I found this item to be very suitable for the intended use, a reasonable price for a reasonable product, I would be happy to purchase this item again in the future. Live long and fester or live long and prosper, it really is your choice!"
"These locks are chunky and seem well made compared to the last one I bought and for the price I felt I'd got a bargain.
Make sure you measure exact when you drill the key hole at the side, I was slightly out and adjustments are difficult.
Brass finish looks smart, usual brass screws with slot heads (heads can sheer off if you're not careful, drill pilot holes first).
Shaft extends to about 13mm when fully extended.
As others have mentioned, only providing one key is a bit stingy. My locks are upstairs and downstairs, no problem I thought, I'll buy another key, (Screwfix don't sell spares).
Unfortunately the lock is about -2 mm bigger than the standard star-key so do not lock properly with a bog-standard key (you have to jiggle the key, the key starts to round off and the lock doesn't fully extend then sticks) so this is costing me more time and money that I expected buying and trying other keys.
I would have rather paid an extra £1 and got 2 keys with this and on this basis I’m not even sure that it is now fit for purpose."
"Good deterent product. Not as solid as other makes that are available on the market; had to take the first set back due to the key not turning the lock. 2nd set better but get the feeling that the teeth on the key or lock would soon wear with lots of use; best these were put somewhere where the door is only being locked/unlocked occasionally."
"These look good when installed and the pair I bought do function properly but the construction is just nasty so I don't expect them to last very long.
Only getting one key is not helpful and the silly little slot-headed screws that come with them are useless but the worst thing is that if you shop around you can find the genuine Yale-branded rack bolts on-line for less than these."
"These rack bolts can easily get stuck open. There is no flange on the back end to stop the bolt end being pushed back into the door when it is open. If this happens the key cannot be inserted and the lock has to be taken out the door to get the bolt to function again."
"Bought to work with thumb turn knobs rather than the supplied key. Found one of the pair worked fine, but not the other. Exchanged at the shop and found this seemed to be common with all pairs (one works with the thumb turn but not the other)"
"I bought 5packs of these to fit for a friend. Out of the 5 packs 10 items in total 5 items were usable 1 was usable but not satisfactory 4 were useless and had to be changed, as usual Screw fix did not quibble they changed them and allowed me to open several packs to find 4good ones. the items were not up to the usual standard i have come to expect at Screw fix"
"Although a cheap price these are simply a poorly made product. Ok for very occassional use, the gear mechanism will not last and mine failed during installation testing. Take my advice and, like me, buy quality branded product (Yale, Chubb, ERA) and you will see the difference in quality. Suggest Screwfix drop this product for better quality brand and charge more."
"Don't buy, this is really cheap stuff. The key is terribly weak and feels like it is going to snap when I use it. Thankfully I had another key already so it works alright, but this is just a cheap set."
"One lock would not operate at all. The other one was difficult to fit as it lacked a 'centre' pin point - which similar products feature. This makes it easy to centre the female part when drilling. Would have taken it back but it would have cost more in fuel - never mind the time involved..
The quality far below anything else bought from Screwfix ..."
