"One person has suggested not to use jointing compound only on cylinder as threads are a little generous You never ever use jointing compound only on male and female threads for water. This is only used on gas threads. Use ptfe tape, locktite or if not potable you can even use good old fashioned hemp!"

Review 2 for RM Direct Copper Cylinder 900 x 450mm
"Cylinder is of decent quality. The one I received was supplied with all connections being 1" female threads. Screwfix could add this to the description to make things a little easier when it comes to knowing what fittings you might need. It is very well packaged so you can't see it without opening the box. Also it's worth noting that it's not supplied with an immersion heater or a plug to blank it off, so that will also need to be ordered separately.
For the DIYers... If you are connecting to 22mm pipes then you'll need 4 x catalogue number 61955. If you are not using an immersion heater you will need a plug, catalogue number 51855.
I'd advise against using jointing compound on the threads and instead use ptfe tape as the threads are cut a little generously and the tape is needed to gain a good seal. Jointing compound / paste is not rigid enough to take up the spaces on the threads."
