" This item is far superior to the low cost items. Well worth the extra for the quality and ease of use. Remember that you will need to spend some time to sharpen it properly before use. "

Very poor effort from Record

" Poor casting first off as not particularly symmetrical but that isn't too much of an issue as the base was machined flat enough that it could be improved with increasing grades of sandpaper. The biggest problem was one of quality control. One of the adjusting nuts had a poorly finished internal thread and so was quickly stripped out... no spokeshaving could then be carried out. Furthermore after 10 minutes of working the blade to razor sharp prior to use I discovered that it had a distinctly concave shape. Last but not least was the shape of the screw which is supposed to hold the blade to the body. Because the screw wasn't flat on the underneath of the screwhead it kept slipping out and therefore I couldn't tighten it all together... I realise that it isn't the most expensive spokeshave on the market but still very disappointed "
