"None of mine broke, but there's not as much thread on the screws as it appears, so it's easy to lose them. I had the floor up at the time, so I effectively lost several screws.
The real problem with these is that there's not enough space in the terminals for the cables. Given that lighting circuits often have several cables going in and out of a junction box, this is just poor design."
"Maybe cheap, but also feel it. Not enough space for wires in terminals; thread not good enough to get tight connections; if over tightened will shatter; need to use 3mm terminal driver, can't get enough torque to tighten. Screwfix sort it out, get new manufacturers ASAP."
"Cheap and nasty, avoid like the plague!!! Lugs don't tighten very well and if they do they will crack under any slight force from the screwdriver. If you only want to do the job first time buy something else."
"I had some of these delivered. 2 came in pieces, the rest had bits broken off them. This illustrates how robust they are. I'm not convinced I could have got any more than 1 cable in them without snapping something. They went in the bin."
"The old junction boxes were able to fix 4 wires in but these can only hold 2. A Junction Box by definition is supposed to be able to hold 3 cables so I would be inclined to state these break the trade description act.
"The old 5A junction box - 18802 was obvious quality and easy to use. Why replace it with obvious trash? Cannot even get 2 wires in, so why call it a junction box? Grub screws have badly machined quirks - so cannot screw down - lead end has too much thread removed. I had to replace this with the 30A 3 terminal to do the job. Please, Screwfix, remove this item from your range and get a decent one - you have a reputation to keep!!!"
"Can only agree with previous reviews - dont waste your time an money on these. Installed three of them and all of them will have to be replaced because of the thread being stripped on at least one terminal."
"I couldn't even join two wires with this JB - the plastic around the terminals cracked and broke - returned them all as they were not fit for purpose. At least screw fix honoured the refund. Bought the Crabtree ones which are much better."
"Although this is supposed to be a 5A junction box the terminals are very small. Difficult to get wires in terminals and the screws are tiny. Easy to cross thread or strip the screws. Nothing like the original Brown 5A junction boxes.
