Customer Reviews for Roughneck Wood Grenade Log Splitter
"This little beastie makes light(ish) work of those real stubborn cords...
I had some 12"+ eucalyptus cords seasoning for around 3 years that refused to split with my Husqy maul or wedge...
...the grenade blew them apart with little more force than a few half swings of the sledgehammer...
I'm very impressed, and the price is excellent. Only after purchasing this did I notice Husqvarna do a 'twisted' wedge which I guess uses some of the principals of the grenade, but with a non-pointed tip, I doubt it would achieve the same results so readily for that reason...
All in all, I'm a very happy log-splitter... if you think you need one of these, then you do.. get one... now... you won't regret it...."
"This log splitter works very well on some tough old pear logs i have been leaving aside because my maul will not split them. Better still it's something my 12 year old can use his energy on in relative safety!"
"Used this to split various sizes of logs, all very successful. I can't swing an axe like my hubbie does, but I still wanted to split our logs. Using a club hammer, the log splitter was great..even on some really damp stuff. Hit the log in the right place and it fell apart without too much effort. The splitter stays in place in the log, it feels very safe, there's no chance of it slipping out of the log. It's a really robust item. The diamond head design works, it splits very cleanly."
"So many times these things tend not to work. However, this is certainly the exception. Armed with only a lump hammer, I have managed to split logs with the Grenade that have defied all previous attempts. It was also great value purchased at Screwfix priced at a fraction of other suppliers."
"Other reviews are accurate. Split a log with about 3 large off shoots with ease. Sometimes have to knock it in fully to get the log to split but when using a sledge hammer it is easy work, and a lot quicker and safer than an axe. Worked on wet or dry wood. When an if it needed replacing I would buy another one without question."
"This is the perfect tool for log splitting and it makes it so much easier than with any other tool I have used. I would recommend this to all those that are currently doing it the hard way as this, really does take the strain and pain from doing it any other way."
"I used the 'grenade' to split some elm logs that had been lying around my barn for over 30 years. When I had tried to split them with an axe, the axe had just bounced off. However a lump hammer and the grenade did the trick. It took some effort and initially it looked as if the grenade was just being driven into the wood like a nail, but then the logs, which we up to 18 inches across, began to split. Excellent."
"Been splitting and burning logs for years using conventional axe type log splitter. Last year a neighbour gave me some massive pieces of oak but I stopped bothering with them because even using a sledge to knock the splitter in, it still took ages to get usable pieces off. Bought the Grenade this aftenoon and I've filled 2 log baskets with OAK. It is brilliant. Takes a bit of effort but really does the business."
"After reading previous reviews i found it hard to believe that a wedge would perform so well having used a home made wedge before. I had some 18" diameter logs to split and was struggling to split them. After using the roughneck i can confirm that this is a great device that splits large diameter logs with ease. Unless you have a constant supply of logs that you will need to split it is not worth getting anything other than this roughneck."
"I was dubious when I saw the tool having used wedges before and still had them stick - but the Roughneck Grenade really does work in one swift blow and splits good sized logs into usable pieces without loads of annoying chips and splinters. Solid piece of kit . My only regret was that I didn't buy the three piece Roughneck kit (kindling splitter, maul and grenade together). If your old sledge hammer/maul is getting tired then pay that bit more for the full kit and keep warm in winter!"
