"Having wasted sooo much time trying to split logs and tree trunk sections in the past with an axe I thought I'd try a grenade to split through a rather large silver birch tree that I had cut into sections in my garden. The very hard trunk sections measured 22 inches side to side, and were 8 - 10 inches deep. I tried a sharp axe to start with and it hardly made a mark. I tapped the grenade in the middle of the wood and hit it in with a 7lb fibreglass handled sledge-hammer (bought at the same time). Once the top of the grenade was almost in you could hear a satisfying cracking sound as the wood started to split apart. The axe wouldn't split the 2 halves either, so I used the Grenade to split most of it. Easy Peasy. Whole tree now cut and split and in my woodshed. If you are splitting logs - get one of these as you really won't regret it. It saves so much time and effort."
"Bought this because I had a real problem trying to split logs, my big axe just couldn't manage it and spent most of my time trying to get the axe back out of the wood. This tool is absolutely amazing, tapped it into end of log and a used sledge hammer to drive it in, even the knotty logs split with little effort.
You should seriously consider this before spending lots of money on unnecessary kit."
"Fantastic - used as a Xmas decoration first when brand shiny new, then for splitting tree trunks. Can't fault the 99 year guarantee from the manufacturer! Have to find somewhere secure for the receipt."
"If you are splitting any number of larger logs or those with knots in then I can not recommend this grenade highly enough. It works. For some tougher really twister logs you will probably find you need 2... or be very precise when using a maul in conjunction with this and a sledge hammer! If you reading reviews wondering whether they are worth it, just save your time and effort and just buy one now."
"Bought two of these, one as part of the Roughneck 3-piece set, and used successfully with the splitting maul on long (2.7m) logs c.300mm dia to split in half! Also use individually to split logs as per their designed use and can find no fault!"
"I am not easily impressed but I was with this product. It made splitting very large logs easy work. The log splitter took the full force of my 10lbs sledge hammer easily and just a couple of heavy blows later it split several 4 foot logs easily. I like to put this sort of kit to the test and it passed with flying colours. Already looking forward to using it again."
"So far only used on a piece of oak trunk (very hard and defied my other splitter) about 12" in diameter and about 18" long. Couple of taps with a club hammer to get it seated and then two swings of the sledge resulted in the trunk splitting cleanly. Can't think of anything better for the money. Can't comment on how well it will last but seems OK."
