Excellent buy

"I purchased this after recieving two faulty Vent Axia LoWatt WCBH fans.
The fan was easily installed and can be ceiling or wall mounted, recessed or surface mounted. Despite the rather high noise level quoted, it is whisper quiet and can't be heard outside the room when the bathroom door is shut.
It switches on when the humidity gets too high, the lights have been on for more than 2 minutes, or via a dedicated pull cord which hangs from the fan. The pull cord looks a bit weird if you have the fan monted in the ceiling but I'm getting used to it.
The humidistat seems to be working well and is clearing the moisture from our bathroom after a couple of long, hot showers each morning.
Quite pricey, but much better that the cheap fan that was in the house when we bought it."

"As with all Vent Axia products this is well made, easy to fit, the box contains everything you need and excellent in use. Avoid cheap imitations I have a similar unit purchased five years ago in my second bathroom and it is as good as new."

Good Bathroom Fan

"This fan is a like for like replacement of a fan which, disappointingly, lasted less than three years.
It is easy to install and does a good job despite being fitted in a windowless basement (second) bathroom where the only air inlet is a door mounted trickle vent (unless the door is open).
The Humidistat feature is excellent if time consuming to set up properly.
Appearance is excellent and filter cleaning is easy.

Solid performer with issues

"The first one of these I received had a faulty humidistat which led to a frustrating few evenings trying to work out if it really was broken. Eventually a call to Vent-Axia confirmed it was.
The replacement works fine, but it does not work like I expected it to. This fan will come on when the humidity rises beyond a set point OR when the light pull cord is activated. As a result if you have an ensuite with no windows for example, the humidity detection feature is not so useful for you, unless you like showering in the dark.
I also agree with another customer, that the plastic clips holding the front on are not substantial enough, but that having been said I seem to have got the settings right first time, so should not now need to take it off.
The good news though is that it's quiet (for a fan), looks nice and does a great job of keeping our ensuite moisture free. I'd recommend it then, but do check whether you will use the humidity detection facility, because if not the simple timer model is some £40 cheaper."

Poorly thought-out and made

"I was looking for a humidity-controlled ceiling-mounted extractor fan for my new bathroom and this unit seemed to for the bill perfectly, but since buying this item, it's pretty poor quality in crucial areas. First off, be very careful how you cut the hole to mount the unit flush into the ceiling, as there's very little allowance for making the hole even a tiny bit too big without having to resort to caulking to fill any gaps.
Next, the plastic lugs for mounting the cover onto the base should be spring steel, as after removing the cover a few times one of the lugs has bent and on closer inspection I've discovered a tiny crack at the base of one of the lugs. Maybe I bought a defective unit, but I wouldn't expect the plastic lugs (they're very brittle) to last very long if you remove the cover more than a few times, which you'll probably end up doing to adjust the timer and humidistat settings.
If you ceiling mount the unit then you can't really use the built-in pull cord as you'll eventually end up pulling the cover off with the cord.
