Review 3 for CHX60BK Cooker Chimney Hood Black 600mm
"Order arrived in less than 24hrs via next day courier, securely packaged. Cooker hood itself couldn't be more simpler to fit, incredibly easy, just four screws, literally, that's it. Clear instructions included, giving measurements for holes to be drilled, I however made a cardboard template, you don't need to, but it did help seeing as though nothing in my old farm labourers cottage ever measures straight or sits level. Settings on the hood are as described, three settings, all adequately sufficient in their own right, light could have been brighter but that's a tiny insignificant minor minus. I've vented the hood to the outside, using just under two metres of solid PVC piping with flexible piping from the hood to the solid pipe - all NOT included. All of which may not mean much reading this but totally relevant when it comes to this hoods performance level. Its often stated that these hoods aren't designed to expel steam, but this was my priority when it came to deciding to fit one, the levels of moisture whilst cooking in our old cottage often left not only the kitchen walls feeling condenstated, but often the hallway walls too - I digress - this hood fitted in the way described, vented outdoors expels ALL steam on setting number three, this remember, is steam created by a pressure cooker and a deepfat fryer, two of the most steam creative appliances in a kitchen and it deals with what's produced effortlessly. The results of this are dry walls! Unbelievable really, I've always thought of cooker hoods as nothing more than ornamental but am kicking my own backside as to why I didn't make the decision to fit one years ago!
I've not felt compelled to write an online review ever, never saw the point, but after the problems I've had with condensation via cooking over many years and the way in which this cooker hood works and has gone on to prevent further misery, I feel if I only convince one other person out there to buy it then my life will have been worth it.
One final bit of advice. When drilling through wall to the outside, make sure you either invest or better still hire a core drill. I decided to be clever and drill a series of holes in a measured out circle and to the attempt to knock the hole through with hammer and chisel - BIG MISTAKE - yes it's worked but took half the afternoon and when I consider the core drill videos I've subsequently viewed since fitting, it really was an error of judgement on my behalf."
