Toolpak Soft Polishing Sponge

" This is a medium density sponge, which I find is perfect to apply a polishing compound post painting.
Remember to apply water via spray bottle to the panel your polishing to ensure durability of the sponge.
For a budget priced foam it performs well

Will last 10 minutes

" Purchased this product allegedly designed to be used with a grinder. Attached and used for about 10 mins in 1-2 minute intervals. Sponge breaks up and disintegrates with hardly any pressure applied (it is polishing not grinding - so gentle application). This sponge is NOT designed for use with the speed of a grinder - AVOID. "

You are correct, these sponges are not for use on an angle grinder. Angle grinders run much too fast to polish and the high speed will do more damage to your paint or lacquer. These are to be used on polishing machines, the electric one looks similar to a grinder but runs at a much lower rpm. For best results I use it on the lowest 2 speeds on my polishing machine that has 6 speeds. The lowest speed (setting 1) is 1500rpm and it's max speed (setting 6) is 2800rpm.

" So I bought two of these, one blue and one red.
Their purpose is simple, put polish onto the sponge, rub it around a little and then apply with either a DA or rotary polishing mop.
I tried both, on both. They do actually put the compound or polish on, but ....well the foam pad then comes away from the backing plate.
One use?...one?.
I will spend more money, get better quality and thusly, save money in the long run. "
