"I bought this to replace a cheaper tool which was absolute rubbish. This tool has mixed reviews on other sites a lot claiming it does not hold the cable in tightly. The reason for this as I soon found out is getting the preparation right. Having stripped the outer PVC off and trimmed the inner plastic back to within 1/4 inch of the outer push the compression joint on and twist it until the white inner plastic is level with the inner face, by the tightening nut. then insert into tool and squeeze. Trim any loose braid and centre core and job done. I bought an extra pack of the cheap joints to practice with, well worth the money."
"Compression F connectors sound such a wonderful idea. I have tried a number of compression tools and various brands of connectors and all I can say is they work with a little skill and practice. My success rate with this tool is substantially better than other tools I have used so its a thumbs up. Notwithstanding that it is by far the best tool I have used, I still test with a good tug everyone I fit and I still get about 10% being failures. That is far better than when I started. Tool seems well made and should last years. But do remember, it is really important to get the preparation of the cable correct and adjust the tool for the connector you are using"
"This is not a crimping tool but a COMPRESSION tool for waterproof fittings. The tool itself is well made and sturdy and I have no doubt it will do the job with compression fittings but as it didn't state this on the site/catalogue it was returned for a swift refund. For a not exactly versatile tool the price is a bit high."
